Or a sock and give whoever is on the right hand side of the sofa an unexpected slap of it when they are looking the other way.

Seriously,i kinda dispute that if you grew them yourself, maybe double freezing/chilling?

i think it means something else, but i don't know the true meaning,so  i suppose it might be better to be weary of someone who puts tomatoes in fridges.Laugh

ITS SORT OF LIKE THE SAYING"That guy could peel an orange wearing boxing gloves"
Now the guy may never peel oranges with boxing gloves on, but you think about "why would anyone peel an orange wearing boxing gloves"
So if you are told to be weary of someone who puts tomatoes in the fridge you have to ask"why would someone put tomatoes in a fridge"

A few things on this Brassneck,

I make plenty of spelling mistakes, honestly no big deal but isn't it wary?
He'd peel an orange in his left hand pocket is the variation i'd be familiar with, your one is better.
Stow is most likely right,i think they would keep longer also, maybe fruit flies could enter the equation?

i think this is a good thread,i wonder if the forumites can work out the paradox?if it is a paradox,as to why some people put tomatoes in a fridge,
there has to be a reason why they do it,is there anyone out there that can give a valid reason why some people put tomatoes in a fridge.?

no doubt stow, but they will last longer if they were not in the fridge i believe.but why the fridge?why not a drawer,or a press,or a box,or leave them on the window where they can get the Sun,why punish the tomatoes?

Surely you aren't punishing the tomatoes per se,they could be on the verge of going kinda squidgey, different if a touch of orange(pending on variety),the window is a valid option then. I don't believe you can freeze a tomatoe,it defrosts and no longer resembles a tomatoe.
