A victim and her mother speak about how a grooming gang case (obviously guilty) had to be thrown out due to Northumbria Police failures (likely deliberate) speak about the complete distrust they have (rightly so) for the police force.

How many fcuk ups over so many years on the same subject throughout the country definitely no coincidences and all tip of the iceberg stuff, this is the biggest disgrace in the country and even now nobody with any real influence wants to know.

The other obvious thing which was mentioned is that these 'gangs' are meeting alot of the girls in the city centre in full public gaze amongst the gazillion cameras and CCTV,yet Northumbria Police and their visually impaired camera operators seem to struggle to track such people and even relate them to other crimes and potential victims.
How many attempts or meetings will these types have had with young girls that have been raped and not reported, surely a camera operator in the city centre should find it odd seeing 13 adult muslim asian men meeting 3 schoolgirls then going off together in cars in broad daylight.

It's been clear for some time that there is something very wrong with the way our police forces are being run.
In fact are they still called a Police Force and not a Police Service?

Don't blame plod on the beat (that's if you ever see one on the streets.)
It's not their fault, make no mistake this failure of the police comes from the top.

4 year olds are now encouraged by some schools to go to the toilet to "self pleasure" , now if my kids were still at that age and I found out that was happening, there would be blood. Kids are kids, they have no sexual urges at that age so it must be a pedo thing, are they trying to tell us,having sex with kids is ok now? Its still one of the worst crimes in my book, send every pedo to an tiny island off the coast of somewhere remote and set fire to itAngry

Did any of the convicted teenage abusers mention the occupations of their parents eg mini-cab drivers, bus drivers, police officers, lawyer, doctors, etc? I'm just curious.

Read an excellent book, the Survivors by Maggie Oliver, the superb female copper in Manchester who fought for justice on behalf of three girls treated disgracefully by GMP. She was blocked all the way and had to leave the police force to go public before justice prevailed. They were easily discarded by the local police force then blocked by senior police, probably on instructions from the Home Office. That lady deserves a seat in the lords instead of the vermin that infest it now.
Report Ramruma September 25, 2019 3:30 AM BST
@treetop -- is there any evidence for "probably on instructions from the Home Office"? Isn't it more likely that these girls (and anyone in care) were written off as out-of-control delinquents who were complicit in their own abuse?
Report DenzilPenberthy September 25, 2019 4:11 AM BST
Yes Ramruma and the more you research this subject the worse it becomes,from an Independent news article;

[b]The government received information detailing the extent of grooming gang activity in Rotherham as far back as 2002 but failed to properly act on it, a review has found.

The National Crime Agency’s ongoing investigation has revealed that more than 1,500 girls and young women may have been abused in the Yorkshire town between 1997 and 2013.

A report by Alexis Jay exposed “blatant” failures by police and the Labour-run local council, where officials feared racism accusations at the time.

The independent inquiry said an unpublished Home Office research report from 2002 described the extent of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham and a series of criticisms over the response “that should have raised concern”.

But a large-scale inquiry was not launched until after a Times report on the scale of grooming provoked a national scandal a decade later.

An internal Home Office review of the information it handled could not locate the 2002 document but found that records were “imperfectly operated” and it may have been received.

After reviewing the internal probe, barrister Richard Whittam QC and NSPCC chief executive Peter Wanless concluded that the government had been “significant and proportionate” and found no evidence of files deliberately being destroyed.

But they added: “The department knew that significant disputes between local agencies in Rotherham existed within the research project.

“However, the Home Office focus seems specifically to have been on the consequence of such disputes for the advancement of evidence that would support a commissioned evaluation, rather than the cause of such disputes.

“Closer consideration of the latter could have uncovered faster the failings we now know were putting children at risk.”

They called on the Home Office to improve its recording of child abuse allegations to ensure they are prioritised.

Sajid Javid, the home secretary, said the recommendation had been accepted and that the department introduced a new referral system in 2014.

He acknowledged that “opportunities to follow up on, or seek further information about, matters in Rotherham including whether the police and other statutory agencies were responding appropriately existed”.

“As public servants, we all have an important responsibility to raise and respond effectively to any safeguarding concerns we may encounter in the work we do – not least allegations of child sexual abuse,” Mr Javid said.

“The permanent secretary and I take this issue extremely seriously and the Home Office will continue to promote amongst all staff the vital importance of using all available information to consider if a child is at risk of abuse.”

Sarah Champion, the Labour MP for Rotherham, said it was “clear that the Home Office knew about child sexual exploitation in Rotherham from 2002”.

“Why, when so many in authority knew the scale and severity of this crime, did it take until 2014, with the publication of the Jay report, for a large-scale investigation to occur?” she asked. “How many lives could have been protected if swift action had been taken a decade before?”

Groomers used multiple locations in the Rotherham area, including their homes, derelict buildings, businesses and taxis, while some victims were trafficked onwards to other towns and cities.

Drugs and alcohol were frequently used to control girls and lower their inhibitions, as well as emotional exploitation – seeing victims convinced they were in relationships with their abusers – threats and violence.

Harrowing testimonies in the Jay report showed how one 12-year-old girl was arrested for being drunk and disorderly after being found in a house with paedophiles, with others making complaints to police that were ignored or being abused while in council care.

Many survivors have since suffered the long-term effects of abuse, including mental health issues, damaging relationships, drug and alcohol addiction and suicidal tendencies.

Ms Champion said the government had still not given agencies the resources to support survivors of child sexual exploitation and has a “moral duty to help the women rebuild their lives”.

Five men have so far been convicted over the excuse and the National Crime Agency expects the total to rise after the completion of several further trials due to start this year, and more than 20 ongoing investigations.

They've not detailed who was doing the exploiting/raping but have known all along in every area and still know, easier to call white people who raise this issue fascist, bigot, right wing racist etc. than actually solve this shameful issue which is a genuine crisis.

The Home Office researcher, who was not named by Panorama, also said she had been accused of being insensitive when she told one official that most of the perpetrators were from Rotherham's Pakistani community.

A female colleague talked to her about the incident. "She said you must never refer to that again – you must never refer to Asian men.

"And her other response was to book me on a two-day ethnicity and diversity course to raise my awareness of ethnic issues."

The Home Office researcher said that at one point the council tried to get her sacked and the report was never published.

Threaten them and their families with extradition and/or expulsion if a voluntary return is not forthcoming. And, stop welfare money if applicable (legally).
