If you omitted KFC you would have altered the whole context....

Edgeware Road is not that flash and never has been, County Kilburn up the road and that's a right khazi.

Agree with Slippy. It’s always been a dump. That said, if you want a decent Lebanese meal out (and who doesn’t?) then it’s certainly the place to go.

Edgware Road Marble Arch was desirable 30 years ago and more so now with some lovely eateries - no Kfc if memory serves; a SAFEWAY and a McDonald. Not been in the area for over 20 years.

Ah Maida Vale my safe haven

Maida Vale was nice - not been for over 30 years. Does Branson still have a home in little Venice? No doubt properties are hugely expensive there these days - they were (comparatively) in my days.

He does.one of many all over the world of course.Lots of rich Russians now live in Maida Vale and with it being a much sort after area of London, property is very expensive-2 bedroom flat well over £1M. It still has a village really about it though-just.

I thought so,...he'd be one of the very 1st to have spotted its potential; Maida Vale had a "village" feel to it then despite its proximity to Ladbroke Grove. The Russians can usually be found in these up-market/gentrified areas of London these days mainly bought with their ill-gotten gains pilfered from their home country, and the few I had dealings with in the past usually paid in crisp £50 notes (I did not know why or ask). But, Maida Vale (even the flats) is a lovely area to live - serene and not-too-ostentatious - yet within spitting distance to Marble Arch/West End.
Hopefully venture there in a car soon for old time sake. |

The "village" are the shops at the said Edgware Rd end of the Elgin Ave.Not sure how long "the rebel" has lived there but there have been many before him. Yes the Russians love £50 notes,i also wonder why? Pop into the Elgin, there is normally a "face" having a drink there.
