Government forces were involved in the killing of 20,000 civilians.

I backed Mugabe in a big double back in 1995 with Alderbrook in the Champion Hurdle.

Alderbrook delivered for me at big ante-post prices, and it was a case of "Oy Oy" all the way up the Harare home straight when Mugabe won the Zimbabwe Elections a month later at a huge value 1.01 price, never coming off the bridle.

Despite Mugabe, Zimbabwe is rated as having the best education system in Africa with a literacy rate of 90%

he and his wife did a lot for the paris fashion industry, i'm not sure if that is what he got his honorary knighthood for.

just a shame that at one stage average life expectancy fell to 44 during his time in charge, still that's only a minor detail and no one's perfect.

zimbabwe, aka rhodesia fed half of africa. independence resulted in mass rape and murder on a colossal scale. pre-independence rhodesia was subject to sanctions despite being a beacon of liberty by comparison. why were sanctions not imposed on ebagum when he murdered tens of thousands, miles worse than anything smith did?

the reason is obvious. africans oppress and murder africans in stupefying numbers and nobody gives a sh1t. that is what happens in africa. everywhere. it is only a crime when people of european descent are involved. then the scream goes up and we have demos and vigils. nobody said anything when the murder rate in zimbabwe went through the roof, sponsored by the state. they would have said a deal more if a white pm had been in control

sad to say that africa is a human catastrophe, and it is africans that have made it so. the west did not introduce slavery, which goes on now, or animism, or polygyny or the widespread belief in black magic and shamanism that blight all african states. children who are twins or albino live(not for long) in terror of being killed for their body parts. incredible but true. western charities try to help, but superstition usually wins.

aids is rife in africa because of the low status of women(inevitable when a man has multiple wives, which is normal everywhere) and barmy superstition about virginal purity. progress is slow, despite billions in aid dished out by the west. nb, only the west. nothing from from the fabulously rich gulf states, or anywhere else.

the chinese have recently bulldozed their way into africa by bribing govt. officials so they can extract minerals and dont give a toss about the environmental degradation they cause. its a disaster. and while they are at it they also kill and export tons of animal body parts from rhino, elephant and other precious creatures for use in grotesque 'medicine'.

I've been several times to some of the poorest place. Ancestral loyalty/fatalism plus inherent corruption destroys many of the 50 odd countries there.

I would say some of the places I visited were 1000 years+ behind Europe. That's NO exaggeration. You have to see it to believe it. It's very, very sad.
