Ignoring referendums is a requirement for EU membership.
The EU are desperate to keep the UK in the club.
They know very well that refusing to offer a decent trading arrangement, is like manna from heaven for the UK remainers.
The remainers won't leave with a deal, and won't leave without a deal.
Which leaves the EU happy to keep taking our money, until public opinion wanes and we remain in.
