They slow things down too much. Workers get 4+ weeks leave, they really don't need the odd Monday off too. Having two in one month (May) is ridiculous and having one in August when many people have had a holiday is just daft. The disruption to the postal service and from businesses closing down and then starting up again is too inconvenient. It's not just one day, its effect is felt for two or three days. Make that five days or even a week when you take into account the god-awful weekends either side of the bank holiday.

Time to do away with August one totally agree with your reasons too, people have already had a summer holiday and the fact the kids are off makes it totally un-needed in my opinion

Scrap foreigners buying anything at the station etc takes at least 3 times longer to serve one as they no undersood enjlish and hardworking people miss trains and buses thus every week a hole working day has disappeared.
