I love that song stewarty b and it's an excellent choice. The best live performance I've seen is a tough one to call but if pressed I would say that seeing Bruce Sprinstein live at Wembley stadium on July 4th 1985 is the stand out. I wasn't even going to go as I didn't know many of his songs and never had any of his records but fair play, he totally rocked Wembley senseless.

A mesmerising session from a band, full of unique and superb raw talent.

The place and audience were utterly blown away !!

I saw Robert Plant earlier in the year and I was sat right up front, he was still an amazing performer.

i know most people think its not the done thing to say but i have seen of many bands live over the years and dont think any come close to u2

Another band which was absolutely brilliant live was Thin Lizzy. Saw a gig they did during their Live and Dangerous Tour.
Such a tight band. Phil was brilliant.

Loved Thin Lizzy, gutted I was too young to ever see them live but I did get to see Phil Lynott perform with Grand Slam during the summer of 1984 (supporting Quo). Sadly he didn't live that much longer, if he had, then i'm certain he would have reformed Lizzy at some point.

An oft forgotten fact that continues to amuse me to this day is Midge Ure's unlikely, short tenure with band. By his own admission "the worst guitarist they ever had" . He seemed to have fun anyhow, as witnessed by this clip... (solo @1.45)

I am not really a fan either, but "live" he was unbelievably good

I've seen AC/DC live but only the once at Wembley arena and I had a great time, second to my Bruce Springsteen shout would have to be Depeche Mode who I saw many times in the 80's and 90's.

I guess most on here will realise that I'm going to suggest Freddie at Live Aid. Bit pointless really as we all have our favourites and are not for turning.

Would make an honourable mention to unnamed pub entertainers in Benidorm last time I was there. Sadly have no idea of their names but there was a female comedian/singer that could belt out Queen numbers with the mike about 3 foot away from her mouth. Some lungs on her.

The bloke that followed her I wasn't that impressed with until he sang a Shirley Bassey number and wow. Amazing.
