Beaches bandb  close to town centre reasonably priced ,and you can walk along the beach to clear your hangover .

Memory going. They were 1st and 2nd in the Portland. VC flopped at Ayr.

There's a travelodge and premier inn right on the edge of town which might well be sold out already. For the price of a b+b that weekend you'd probably get a decent hotel in Glasgow which is 50 minutes on the train, £11 return. You should have a couple in Ayr before going out in Glasgow and staying there.

Last time I was at Ayr I stayed at Girvan and taxi'd it,can't even remember where was sackless on the trip but can remember that part.
