Morning Do Wah !
They took 100s of millions of years to evolve to their state of development when they where all wiped out by the meteor strike. |

If we all hid on the moon for 100s of millions of years would the crocodiles evolve into dinosaurs?
|
|
By:
Well it's been along time there should be some evidence to say their on there way back if they are ever going to come at all

I bet they don't know what's needed for one to evolve .

The dinosaurs were pretty safe when we only had spears to hunt them with. It would be much more dangerous for them now that we have machine guns.
|
|
By:
If there was an earth here and dinasaurs evolved .then surely the creatures and life that was here first should come back first when the earth resorted back to its natural state .unless like my theory that it moved into a different position to all the corner planets and stars.and it's them that are the answer to what grows on earth

The KT extinction event killed a lot of species and did wipe whole groups of species off the planet forever, but one of the biggest misconceptions is that it killed ALL of the dinosaurs. Some dinosaurs did survive, and they remain alive and well today having radiated into the thousands of species of birds we know today. Birds are the 65 million year descendants of a group of theropod dinosaurs that survived the meteor. Many of the features that birds have evolved well before this extinction event, like feathers and hollow bones. Even some of the major groups of birds that we know today (like ducks) can trace their ancestry back before the meteor event (although they did not look like modern ducks). Wikipedia has a great article of the origin of the birds. Dinosaurs are a really big and diverse group containing thousands of species that lived over the course of hundreds of millions of years. Many went extinct well before the meteor event happened 65 million years ago. Whole groups of dinosaurs came and went before the meteor was anywhere near Earth. As I said birds are dinosaurs, but they really are only representative of the theropod group of dinosaurs and don't really resemble other groups of dinosaurs, especially the older ones. The closest non-dinosaur group of species that remains alive today are the crocodiles. So crocodiles and birds are more closely related to the dinosaur group than a snake/lizard or other kind of reptile are. Reptile is also another really big group of species containing everything from the living turtles, snakes, lizards, squamates, crocodiles and sometimes birds, as well as all their extinct ancestors like dinosaurs. |

you are quite right do wah , in fact life is impossible anywhere in the universe

If humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

Why did crocodiles survive the mass extinction of dinosaurs?
1: They are amphibious. They need little air and can stay underwater for extended periods. They can also relax near the surface, barely exposing themselves with just their nostrils and eyes showing. 2: Wide diet. Crocodiles can and will eat just about anything they can take down. As the larger and more dangerous dinosaurs died off, their main land-based prey became the smaller, adaptable mammals that were beginning to become commonplace. 3: Strong immune system. Crocodiles are like bats in how well they can resist disease. The extinction event killed off the plentiful food that the large dinosaurs needed and as they starved they also fell to disease. 4: Efficient metabolism. Crocodiles don’t need a lot of food and can go long periods without a large meal, whereas the large, continuously growing dinosaurs had to eat until they could not find enough food to sustain their size (a common problem amongst the largest kinds of herbivores) 5: They’re tough and mean. As large predatory dinosaurs died off, crocodiles had less competition and moved up the food chain a bit. 6: Large litters. Crocodiles lay a lot of eggs and the babies mature fairly quickly. Many dinosaurs took years to develop into proper adults. 7: Hibernation. The extinction event and subsequent Ice Age caused radical weather changes with huge temperature drops that most dinosaurs would not have been able to survive. Crocodiles, however, can go dormant in the cold if they find a safe spot to hide out, and simply come out again when it’s warm. |

We are NOT the descendants of monkeys. (I couldn't read your link.)

The leperd I've just read your link thoroughly and it's very interesting not a single post mentioned my theory that the earth had moved but they quite categorically stated that there's less oxygen today than when the dinasaurs lived onnthe planet.HERE IS THE ANSWER THEY STATE THEIR NOT HERE BECAUSE THERES LESS OXYGEN AND THEY NEED IT
BUT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY THERES LESS OXYGEN AND THIS IS WHERE MY THEORY COMES INTO PLAY.THAT METEROID OR WHAT EVER IT WAS ,WAS THAT HUGE THAT IT MVED THE EARTH TO A DIFERENT POSITION .WHICH MADE ITS POSITION IN RELATION TO THE OTHER PLANETS DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IT WAS BEFORE HENCE LESS OXYGEN AND NO DINASAURS . THEY HAVE NOT ANSWERED WHY LESS OXYGEN .BUT I HAVE SUGGESTED YOU NEED TO LOOK FURTHER TO ANSWER WHY IM SORRY IVE ONLY ANSWERED THIS QUESTION IN LAY MANS TERMS AND NOT SCIENTIFIC TERMS OTHERWISE PEOPLE ON HERE WONT UNDERSTAND WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT THEY SOON GET BORED AND LEAVE AND READ THREADS ABOUT HOW TO COOK AN EGG .AND HOW TO TO TIE A PAIR OF SHOELACES THREADS |

The reason why there are no dinosaurs today is because their genes got mutilated. Thank you.

Birds are basically dinosaurs as well.
T-Rex could say "Pretty Polly". This is FACT. (Well it will be if some clueless nutcase makes a youtube videos saying so :)). (But birds ARE basically dinosaurs). |

You might as well ask why we don't have Model T Fords or fight battles with bronze swords. There is no niche or use for such creatures as better things have replaced them.
The interesting question is: Once humans stupidly wipe each other out (I'm banking either an accidental ww3 or more likely some religious nutters gettign the technology, nuclear or biological, to do it), what will replace them as supreme beings? Super intelligent cockroaches? |

Interesting, was looking at how long ago Cockroaches evolved (wiki says fossiles 320 million years ago looked like them),and it says:
"Research conducted in 2014 suggests that humans fear cockroaches the most, even more than mosquitoes, due to an evolutionary aversion." I totally get that. I'm not fussed about insects. Spiders, beetles, bees, woodlice etc I'm totally ok with all of them, happily hold them in my hands. But Cockroaches .. absolutely disgust me. |

They didn't have a clue in them days where the earth was in relation to the other stars and planets .they didn't even know the difference between an inch and a yard .there was no Argos super delux telescopes with built in digital measuring apps.Darwin didn't have Google to give him answers he was like me .we work through problems to get answers
Every one who had a brain was worried incase they fell off the end of the flat earth. There was no arcameedes or Aristotle.or Plato .or Einstein The earth has only to move a little for it to be way out of line with some stars and planets .you talk about mass .I'm not talking about kinetic energy or gravitational pull or friction or I will soon bore the pants off you ?I'm trying to make it easy for you to understand .I will leave it there you just be brainwashed by Google .while me and Tommy Robinson are in search of the real truth |

Graphic of primate tree showing why monkeys and Humans co-exist :

By:
Leo - that was my point to JC, we haven't replaced monkeys.
In any case, your post doesn't explain why they co-exist. |
|
By:
We evolved from IDA (Darwinius Masillae), 47 mya, and so did all the monkeys and the other primates connected to the blue tree branches.
The graphic is self-evident showing why we co-exist. |

I_agree_with_nick surely you are trolling?
Your flow of argument is as sensible as saying "why does me grandad exist if I exist, how can this be". |
