Tom Watson came in for some stick as well
|
|
By:
seems as if he is getting well punished
may have made up lies about the wrong people. |
|
By:
i've no idea what the normal sentence for this offence is, but it will scare the chit out of anyone who is thinking of bringing charges; even valid ones
|
|
By:
Good, I'm glad he got a properly severe sentence.

Jeremy Vine was discussing this earlier in the week and straight after he played Chris Rea's On the Beach. I don't know if it was intentional.

The courts take a dim view of perverting the course of justice.
Here are the judge's sentencing remarks: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/BEECH-Sentencing-Remarks-26.7.19-003.pdf |

Unless of course the offender is a black, left-wing, Corbynista female, in which case she receives a disproportionately derisory sentence, and gets to vote on Brexit matters in the Commons with an electronic tag on her ankle. |

good point, alun. I'd forgotten about her

He made some really outrageous allegations and deserved a harsh sentence.
I think it's worth comparing his sentence with those of Maxine Carr (42 months) and John "Wearside Jack" Humble (eight years) both of whom were released after serving half their sentences. |

Carl Beech, 51, from Gloucester, was sentenced for 12 counts of perverting the course of justice, one of fraud, and for several child sexual offences.
He pleaded guilty in January to possessing hundreds of indecent images of children and to covertly filming a teenage boy. Prosecutor Tony Badenoch said the evidence showed that Beech "derived sexual pleasure from graphically describing the violent sexual abuse of young boys" and "enjoyed the attention and celebrity". Beech also fabricated a claim that he had been raped by DJ and prolific sexual abuser Jimmy Savile, fraudulently collecting £22,000 in compensation. The prosecutor said Beech had also given "entirely false hope" to the family of Martin Allen, missing since 1979, by speculating that he may have been one of the boys abused by the paedophile ring. The BBC said it had reported "serious allegations, in the public interest" and said that a Panorama investigation played a part in eventually exposing Beech as a "fantasist and serial liar". The Metropolitan Police spent £2m looking into Beech's allegations. |

By:
Indeed. I'd change it if I could.
The maximum sentence for perverting the course of justice is life imprisonment. Beech was convicted of 12 charges plus one of fraud (he obtained £22k from the CICA.) That doesn't really take account of the lives he ruined. From wiki: In July 2018 it was announced that Beech had been charged with twelve counts of perverting the cause of justice and one of fraud.[23] After the lifting of reporting restrictions in December, Beech was publicly identified by name, as a 50-year-old former National Health Service manager from Newcastle. Beech is accused of obtaining £22,000 from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority by submitting a false claim of abuse.[24] In May 2019, Beech was placed on trial; he denied the charges against him.[25] During the trial, it was revealed that Beech had previously been convicted of voyeurism and making and possessing indecent images of children, relating to offences committed while he was still making allegations to the police.[26] Beech was convicted of all charges on 22 July.[27] |

Hopefully he finds god and is released to a job rehabilitating others.

If he has any remaining sense, he will quickly convert to a Peaceful Religion while incarcerated. The authorities will then kow-tow to him even more than they have already.
It is an increasingly popular prison for white offenders with long prison sentences ahead of them. |
|
By:
The thing is his story does sound somewhat plausible, but from tictacman's description it sounds like he was acting out some kind of weird fantasy. I think he needs cycle hat trick help rather than a long prison sentence. He's obviously a troubled individual.

Whilst applauding this severe sentence,as mentioned above bu some, it does make you wonder why some are treated so leniently. On the other hand, if the police had looked into this thoroughly, maybe they will have seen him for what, he has proved to be, and it would never have got this far. His best friends and believers at the time have turned out to be very costly for him.

Puts Tom Watson in a very difficult position. I wonder what he will do?
Reiterate his earlier apology? Reiterate his earlier apology, but try to pass the blame? Reiterate his earlier apology and resign? Nothing? Place your bets. |
|
By:
Don't believe he has apologised has he? Or did he? From what I can remember he thought he had done nowt wrong to apologise for??
|
|
By:
Yeah, he did apologise.

Poor Terry - still defending an evil convicted peadophile & liar. Mr Breech ruined the lives of adults & children. Hardly surprising that the forum racist supports such a nasty man as Carl Beech. |

I suspect he will be out in 10 years. Really don't understand why any sane person would support this evil guy. He abused children & told countless lies , in an attempt to make money & get off on the attention he received. |
