Every second shop in Paris is a feckin chemist with a Green LED cross outside showing the temperature, must be extra useful in a heat wave.

If you are supposed to serve red wine at room temperature, does still apply if it's absolutely melting?
I'm guessing this is a real issue in French wine circles. |

Its the humidity that's the killer in my opinion
Its unbearable if you've got no proper air conditioning, don't bother with fans because they just blow back warm air after about 30 seconds and it makes it even worse, best to switch them off and just bare it until it cools off a little later |

It's not the degree sign, it's a halo emoji for the invisible man looking smug.

I've suffered heat like that and it's just horrible.
Wonder how D-Day would have went if a month later they had had a heatwave like this? Wonder what it's like being inside a WW2 tank with it 40C outside and sun beating down on the metal. I'd rather be on the Eastern Front. |

I opened the freezer and sat next to it for 20 minutes at about 8 oclock
Its been a right corker today, and I love the heat but the humidity is off the scale Come mid october when the dark nights are almost back, its 4 degrees outside, with some drizzle, and a whole 6 months of it to look forward we'll be begging for a week like this again though |

Thinking about it I suppose it must've been pretty sh1t in tanks in North Africa as well. But they'd at least be painted a light sand colour which would absorb less heat than a dark olive green. I can't believe for a minute they'd have aircon back then but a modern tank would be airtight for NBC reasons so i'd guess have all sorts of fancy stuff.
I hate the heat. My thermometer says it's just 25C but (maybe because I got the sun today as well) I'm melting. |

I am having a wine spritzer with chilled water from the fridge in a minute and anyone who has a problem with that, well, they are barred from my pub.
Wish I had the foresight to make ice cubes, we knew this was coming. |

We did need a good month of this, just 36 degrees everyday for a whole month, absolutely roasting and people stinking offices out for the duration of it
They'd never moan about snow again ![]() ![]() |
