Sounds like he's been stitched up
He was handed the kipper by a newspaper editor, who claimed he had been sent the fish by an Isle of Man fishmonger who complained of the cost of the Brussels-imposed ice pillow. But the rules that force the deployment of the pillow are British rules. |

Today's English comprehension exercise.
Explain the difference between lying and being factually incorrect when repeating information from another source. |

Tomorrow's English comprehension exercise.
Explain fact-checking, and whether Boris and his team were incompetent or just did not care whether it was true or not. I suppose it will make negotiations easier if Boris marches into Brussels demanding an end to the EU ban on straight bananas and the ban on posted kippers. After three weeks of hard bargaining, the EU can give up these bans which do not actually exist despite what Boris has claimed, in exchange for us handing over £350 million a week or whatever was on Boris's bus. |

You are both right. Don't argue...lets call it a kipper tie

No, he'll have more time to do proper research when he's jacked in his Telegraph column.

you all really think he cares about this? It was a prelude to the last Hustings, it got the crowd on his side (if it was needed) set the tone for his victory parade; & worked beautifully. It also got the MSM talking about it endlessly & showing how utterly out of touch they are with Bozo

@Baphornet is right.
We are in a post-truth world. It is the same with Trump in America, and George W Bush before him. Boris's kipper story is has what the Bush team called truthiness, where it is not actually true but sounds like it ought to be. Supporters lap it up. That is combined with something shared with Trump and also with Corbyn. Our political systems run on certain conventions, but it turns out that if you defy them, as Boris and Trump and Corbyn do, there is not actually a great deal anyone can do about it. |
|
By:
It's also another way of sowing division, as oftentimes it's impossible not to feel superior to the "base".
|
|
By:
And it screws the opposition because instead of putting forward their own policies, they tie themselves in knots exposing lies and contradictions when Boris/Trump and supporters have long since moved on.
|
|
By:
^in one^ You would think the MSM would get this; but they are too busy doing exactly the same as the oppos

He knows he has GE 1 in the bag as well, due to a certain Mr J Corbyn.

Not Starmer please. The bloke has no charisma or political appeal; too straight jacket to appeal to the electorate for Labour.
