Couldn't recommend anywhere in Turkey, liable to kick off anytime soon

I agree, steer clear of it.

Only poor people go to Turkey. Trying to go away on the cheap can be the only reason they'd visit the ghastly place.

pound is pretty strong against turkish lira, but bars tend to know that.

I've never been to Turkey and never will either, I'd rather have a week in Cornwall or Devon than go there.

OP has certainly asked for input at the wrong forum. As you can see, some people have never been to Turkey but have a negative opinion of it. They've probably heard that on the telly.

i've got a negative opinion of Hell as well. Not been there either (yet)

I've been there twice, once to Istanbul for a couple of weeks and once to Kemer for a week. It was great but don't go there for now especially if you have family.

Spend a week on a Gulet, out of Fethiye or Marmars

Make sure you ask the price of everything before you sit down at a table.ive been ripped off there more times than any where else as I never learn from my mistakes

I knew somebody who enjoyed it...relatively cheap if you are a bit short of funds

Istanbul is a great place to visit.

Obviously if you are the kind of person that can't go a week without Wall's microwaveable bangers or cheesy wotsits then it's probably not for you.

I'll eat cheesy quavers at a push.

Thanks for the replies, still debating as to go or not, certainly not cheap for 10 days   flights jersey/London/turkey and back that's the first 800 quid, no hotel as yet.
May consider cruise less hassle and no foreseeable problems.
