My latest forum competition. Having missed last year, a return to what is usually one of the most popular competitions: The OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
PLEASE ENTER ON THIS THREAD The thread appears on both the Golf and Chit-Chat forums, enter on either (not both).
This is how it works: (in much the same way as my other competitions).
There are 12 sections: You have to pick 1 player, a Yes/No, or a number (depending on which section) for each one. The scores for each selection are listed too. Just put the letters A to L with your choice for each – preferably going downwards, followed by a tie-break answer.
In the event of a tie, the tiebreak will come into effect so there should be an overall winner.
If you don’t want to study or look anything up, that’s fine, just guess!!!
There is a prize fund of £410 (so far) which has been very kindly donated by a generous forum user, who once again wishes to remain anonymous. I’ll ask BF if they want to chip in again and let you know what they say! The prize breakdown will be posted in the scores and standings thread when the event begins.
The Sections:and some details/clues/history This year’s event is at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland – It was held there in 1951. A links course (as always) with no trees or water on it. [b]Other stuff
E&OE - If there's a player missing from any of the sections as I've listed them (I don't think I've missed anyone), he will be ignored for scoring purposes. Any ties in any sections, points shared; (eg, if the score is 2 points for 3rd, 1 point for 4th, and there's a tie for 3rd, both will score 1.5) Please put initials with any ambiguous selections (eg. There are 2 Johnsons and a Johnston, 2 Kims, 2 Wilsons). Any doubt about a selection for a section will score ZERO for that section regardless of the intention.
If I’ve made any glaring errors please let me know, and I’ll do my best to rectify….. otherwise…. The organiser's (that's me) decision is final. I'll try to update scores and standings at the end of each day's play. In all cases, common sense will prevail. Entries accepted until 11.59pm, Wednesday 17th July.

To putt it in context here is that conversation...(no sniping was ever meant/intended)...just can't understand why you persist/bother with the kind folks on chitchat.
My own forays onto the forum have been reduced by my intolerance of some of the idiots who use it, as well as the general population reduction on here. Strangely enough, the idiots I'm thinking of seldom, if ever, enter the Comps I have run, whatever the sport.
El Bandido • August 16, 2015 11:16 AM BST I enjoy doing your comps Study, I think I even won a prize once a couple of years ago. You've been missed this year on here, and I'm sure I speak for many when I say that. There are always a few idiots, but that's the internet for you. Don't let it stop you from doing something positive. I've really enjoyed running the other golf comp on here this year and will continue next year. And I have to say there are no idiots, except me!

I have a general downer on social media and a massive one on keyboard warriors, but you're right, so in the words of a different good guy......."I'll be back"
pantsonfire • August 16, 2015 1:31 PM BST As a golf forum and chitchatting idiot. I would like to say that I also miss the golf comp and hope that you resurrect it. I had to drop out of the last one as the betfair site was suspended where I live. I now have access again but only to the forum.
