Jeffrey Epstein arrested on sex trafficking charges

More than a decade after receiving one of the most lenient sentences for a serial sex offender in U.S history, multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested outside of New York, sources confirmed to the Miami Herald Saturday night.

Epstein was arrested at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, according to one of the sources. Flight records show he had just flown to Teterboro from Paris on Saturday.

Around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, about a dozen federal agents broke down the door to Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse to execute search warrants, witnesses and sources said.

“We heard the loud banging and we walked over and saw all these FBI agents just pounding down the door,” a witness told the Herald.

Epstein, 66, is expected to be arraigned in federal court in New York on Monday on charges that he molested dozens of underage girls in New York and in Florida, the sources said.

His arrest, first reported by the Daily Beast, comes nearly two weeks after the Justice Department announced that it would not throw out his 2008 non-prosecution agreement, even though a federal judge ruled it was illegal.

Rumors had been circulating for months that Epstein was under investigation on sex charges in the Southern District of New York. It’s not clear what instances those investigations involved, and the Herald had not been able to confirm the status of the New York probe.

Sources said he was arrested by the FBI pursuant to a sealed indictment that will be unsealed on Monday. He is in custody in New York and a bail hearing is set for Monday.

“That bail hearing will be critical because if they grant him bail, he has enough money that he will disappear and they will never get him,’’ a source in New York told the Herald.

A woman who had accused Donald Trump of raping her when she was a 13-year-old dropped her lawsuit against the Republican nominee on Friday.

One of the accuser’s attorneys, Thomas Meagher, filed a one-page voluntary dismissal in district court in New York late on Friday. Neither he nor a second attorney listed immediately responded to questions about the document.

The woman, who had filed suit earlier this year under the pseudonym Jane Doe, had alleged that Trump and billionaire Jeffrey Epstein had raped her in 1994, when she was a 13-year-old aspiring model.

This week she abruptly canceled a plan to speak publicly about the allegations, and another attorney, Lisa Bloom, cited “numerous threats” against her client.


“She has been here all day, ready to do it, but unfortunately she is in terrible fear,” Bloom said on Wednesday. Bloom’s mother, Gloria Allred, is an attorney representing several women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct.

Trump had been given a tentative court date for the civil lawsuit of 16 December and has denied all the accusations made against him.

After Doe’s suit was filed in June, Alan Garten, a lawyer for the Trump Organization, told the Guardian the claims were “a complete fabrication”.


The court order to Trump and Epstein’s attorneys gave no details of Doe’s complaint, but the original suit alleged that Trump assaulted her at Epstein’s home in Manhattan and at parties hosted by the financier.

President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, the 66-year-old hedge fund manager charged this week with sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, were the only other participants in a party that consisted of roughly two dozen women at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, according to a New York Times report.
The women were reportedly flown in for a "calendar girl" competition that was requested by Trump, The Times said.
"I said, 'Donald, this is supposed to be a party with VIPs. You're telling me it's you and Epstein,'" a former Trump associate recalled having asked.

I don't like to Categorise or Stereotype people but it needs to be said that all the Jeffreys (spelt with a J) that I have ever met in my lifetime have all been complete ****s, so this news story doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
There should be a law passed that would prevent parents from being able to name a child  Jeffrey as this may help to stop a wide range of psychological problems later on in life.

Billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein was reportedly found in his cell on Tuesday with injuries to his neck in what may have been a possible suicide attempt.

The New York Post reports that Epstein was found “nearly unconscious” by guards at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where he’s incarcerated on sex-trafficking charges. He is being held without bail and reports have speculated that he may cooperate with authorities who are seeking to unlock a larger conspiracy that may involve politicians, celebrities, media people and financial giants.

How Epstein sustained his injuries is unclear. The Post story reported that he may have inflicted the injuries on himself, or been attacked by another inmate.

Epstein was arrested on July 6 on sex-trafficking and conspiracy charges. He has been charged with operating a ring for abusing teenage girls in various locations, including a Caribbean island, his Manhattan townhouse and an estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The charges stem from activities from 2002 to 2005.

He has pleaded not guilty and has tried to secure bail, reportedly offering $100 million as security. But a judge has not allowed him to leave custody.
