fame & money & living in LA. Mozza wanted all that but had to con his fans
so they would keep buying his recordings.

He's awkward & that's being kind.
Her friend is not in his band anymore but doing very well writing music for film & tv and much happier.

Morrissey loves to slag off other artists. I remember him on the radio having a right
go at Bruce Springsteen and the other guest pointed out his songs cover all the same
subjects but from an english perspective. i think he said there is a light is just
born to run but on a bus Laugh

“Everyone ultimately prefers their own race … does this make everyone racist? The people who reduce every conversation down to a matter of race could be said to be the most traditionally ‘racist’ because everything in life is NOT exclusively a question of race, so why make it so? Diversity can’t possibly be a strength if everyone has ideas that will never correspond. If borders are such terrible things then why did they ever exist in the first place? Borders bring order. I can’t see how opposing Halal slaughter makes me racist when I’ve objected to ALL forms of animal slaughter all of my life.”

I think nationhood and culture are absolutely central to a sense of identity, of self and should be cause for pride and celebration (each and every across the world). I wanna see bold defined strokes not this globalist march toward a homogenized mulch, where all definition, sense of history and meaning is obliterated and re-written. Destroy identity, remove borders and you speed up the race to the bottom. Depress wages, maximize profits and create a mass of transient easily manipulated consumer drone workers . A brave new world.

We are all ultimately tribal, we are creatures of habit that gravitate toward the routine. Pointing that out isn’t racist, nobody of reasonable mind gives that much of a fig about race but we all by necessity hold certain prejudices and preferences, some conscious but most less so. Just a part and parcel of being a human being who is alive, thinking and properly engaged with the world. It is human nature, that’s all.

Morrissey committed thought crime and I have the greatest respect for him.

He doesn't live in Salford he lives in LASilly. or did last i heard.
btw i think he is entitled to live in LA.

Sean Connery lives in the Bahamas & has upset folks by getting involved in SNP related stuff.
Should Morrissey  also stay out of UK politics?

Personally I think he is entitled to give his opinion or his money on or to whatever he likes & so is everyone else.

"I saw a documentary once where Morrisey tried to cheat The Smiths out of their share of thee royalties"
Did he? There was a court case as he and Marr had split the royalties 40/40/10/10 or 30/30/20/20, whatever it was.
He and Marr said the other members knew about it and they then said they hadn't and wanted it 25/25/25/25. One settled out of court the other plodded on.

Given he and Marr did apparently all the songwriting and essentially WERE the smiths and the other 2 were in effect very replacable (BBC "talent" level of replacable) it didn't seem unfair imho. The world is chock full of failed bands and crap material, it's the people who write the good songs and push it who make them.
Report northanlite July 7, 2019 12:50 PM BST
on that Bowie tour he kicked up stink about the money half way through it, suggested they take turn about
headlining (you can guess the Bowie response) then quit.

the night he quit one of his band members was very exited that they were playing his hometown. he had maxed
out the guest list for family & friends and Moz knew he was very exited about the show. He pulled the plug at the
last minute claiming a sore throat but everyone knew that was not true.
He has always been convinced it was partly 'cos he could not handle being the support but also partly personal as he
is just a mean guy and they were in a dispute about song writing royalties.

I must admit when it was announced he wasn't playing i was surprised how many people headed for the exits and
didn't stay to see Bowie. His fans are very passionate & very loyal.
I've seen him a few times and it is more cult like than any other artist i've seen.
Report Just Checking July 7, 2019 1:31 PM BST
Yea well it's quite possible he was being fair on the royalties thing AND he's a bit of a primadonna **** ;) I'm not a big fan but they did some decent stuff. He seems remarkably "straight talking" for a luvvie, i.e. he talks about things and his truth as he sees it (agree with him or not) without a PC "filter", there is little of that these days. You can can count the amount of British artists/celebs who are prepared to stick their head above the parapet on non PC things on about 2 fingers. The only other I can think of being John Cleese, a towering giant of comedy who (not being on message) will I presume never be invited on with those non-comedians on "the luvvie leg".

It seemed unfair to me at the time, and Morrisey is hardly poor

The thing I find baffling is that Marrs guitar work with The Smiths was frequently astonishing and very well respected within the muso community. Correct me if i'm wrong, but since then he's done absolutely nothing that gets within several large universes of that work. Post Smiths he's become just another indie meat and potatoes journeyman. Absolutely bizarre.
Report macarony July 7, 2019 10:27 PM BST
Both Moggy and Marrs best work was when they were in the Smiths maybe because they were young and poor when most of their early ideas were put down on paper it could be been in the North that provided the insperation of the late 70s eary 80s

I don't think he's ever admitted being gay has he ?
But I think it's generally accepted that he is , hush , hush , whisper , whisper .

My question is this , What's wrong with being Gay ? In the mind's of many , there's something very disgustingly wrong about it , I understand that , but in my mind there's absolutely nothing wrong with it . I feel that any person who truthfully embraces and accepts a very important part of who they are is something to be admired . It's a a beautiful thing .

Despite saying what I've just said ,A person being gay is something that I'll never quite understand , males and females being sexually attracted to each other will always be somewhat of a mystery to me .

How a gay man would prefer to have sex with a fat , hairy aRSed fella , rather than a delectable female beauty , I just can't
comprehend . In fact I find it quite hilarious .

Very obviously it is not a matter of choice . Gay people don't choose to be gay , they're born that way .

The point that I want to make is this , Why doesn't morrisey step out of his grubby little closet and proudly say " I love c.0.C.k ,
I think we all know the answer to that . He is walking in the footsteps of elton john and other show business types who know
that if the truth is known about themselves then their concert ticket and record sales will very likely be harshly affected .

He must be a millionaire many times over , the greedy BuGGer doesn't need any more money .

Because of shame , there are gay teenagers all over the world who are very terribly taking their own lives , very possibly if a admired , influential figure like this lying toerag came out and revealed the truth about himself , I really think that could make a real difference to many , it could help them stand tall , look the ignorant in this world in the eye and say this

" I'm Proud Of Who I Am "

As a sidenote , when I was a teenager , I loved the music of The Smiths . They were my favourite band , but I now
find almost all their music very miserable .

Reveal the truth about yourself , Stephen .
Stop being a lying little tart .

I'd like to drop my trousers to the world
I am a man of means, of slender means
Each household appliance
Is like a new science in my town

And if the day came when I felt a natural emotion
I'd get such a shock I'd probably jump in the ocean
And when a train goes by, it's such a sad sound
No, no, no, no, no
It's such a sad thing

I remember visiting some friends in Glasgow many moons ago.
On the Saturday afternoon, we ended up at Firhill to watch Patrick Thistle take on whoever it was in a far from thrilling encounter.

After the match, we wandered in to a nearby hostelry for a beverage or two, and I distinctly remember wandering who had the good taste to select the following tune on the jukebox

Well I wonder
Do you hear me when you sleep ?
I hoarsely cry
Oh...

Well I wonder
Do you see me when we pass ?
I half die...
Oh...

Please keep me in mind
Please keep me in mind

Gasping - but somehow still alive
This is the fierce last stand of all I am
Gasping - dying - but somehow still alive
This is the final stand of all I am
Please keep me in mind

Well I wonder
Well I wonder

Please keep me in mind

Keep me in mind
