I think it's not a bad analogy , in fairness . I think she's implying that we are political slaves and whilst I don't necessarily agree with her view it does seem an interesting angle to come from in order to get her point across .
Is Lammy implying that his ancestors literally 'tore their chains off' ? If that is the case , as opposed to their masters using a key , then maybe they should have done it sooner and secured their freedom rather than wait for William Wilberforce to come to their rescue
