It was jean valjean the French man and leading character in Les miserables and that was his prison number .he was later released and never returned .he was a good model for those that had been imprisoned at that time .he shown that if you changed your ways you could end up à good person

He went round local women's and men's meetings after being let out of prisons spreading the word that being hungry is no excuse for stealing a loaf of bread .
|
|
By:
Not alot of people know that when he left prison .he started singing that well known song if your hungry don't steal a loaf of bread if you don't want to go to prison
He sang it in the village square before he became famous as a singer in the French civilian people's recruitment brigade . |
|
By:
He was once heard singing in the village square trying to recruit civilians for the peoples liberation army .when he saw an old lady crying .he stopped singing and asked her if those in power had killed one of her loved ones .she replied no she had forgotten her husband's boiled ham from the butcher's and he would be really angry with her when he knew she had forgot it .
He told her not to go back for it with all the troops and gunfire about.but she said her husband would kill her if he did not get his boiled ham for his tea when he was expecting it |

He lost a finger in the battle at versaille .his friend Emile said to him do you know you've lost a finger .he said yes i knew I had it this morning before I started fighting but I've looked all over and can't find it (they both smiled as they both had a sense of humour )

Emile said I'm running out of gunpowder .only for jean valjean to say don't come that one with me again .you borrowed them 5 cigs off me yesterday and never gave me them back .your not getting my last tin of gunpowder

That is a coincidence, Do wah, as I have just been playing, over and over again, this recording of Colm Wilkinson singing 'bring him home' from Les Miserables. It is probably not chit chatters cup of tea, more a woman's choice, but it gives me goosebumps. I have never even seen Les Miserables. This is another example of men becoming sexier as they age. Having discovered the above performance I was excited and thought I could go back decades and see him sing other stuff. Unfortunately not Yes, he could sing, but there was no charisma or sexiness. |

I don't know why I laughed, do wah, maybe because you nearly always make me laugh - its the way you tell them! Was it really played at his funeral.
|
|
By:
Annie yes i was wondering what was funny .yes they did play it at his funereal .people cried but no one laughed
|
|
By:
It's ok Annie .I say the wrong thing loads of times.i know you meant no harm .
And if George knew you I'm sure he wouldn't have minded . |
|
By:
Annie you just play your poker don't give it another thought .I know deep down that if you had been at his funeral you wouldn't have started laughing when that song was sung .
And even if you had .I'm sure you would have tried to stop when you saw how everyone else was upset . |

Ah those were the days... ![]() |

Those were the days my friend I hoped they would never end .
I saw him in the youth team and the first team for years.i used to buy a football magazine called northern football once a month and there was an article about him by Matt Busby who said he was the managers dream footballer he didn't smoke and didn't drink . He didn't I know he used to hang about Stretford ten pin bowling alley most of the time .but how times change with money and stardom |
|
By:
Yep, was lucky enough to see him a few time at OT.
As a kid from Dublin on the boat, it was the most amazing thing and times. Not being gay i almost fancied him myself... ![]() He had all the ladies weak at the knees. |

Another great thing about george best is that he had a lovely smile. He reminds me in some ways of mo salah, the egyptian king. And another bonus of watching these old clips is that you get to see the footballers wearing SHORT shorts. We got to see lovely toned thighs. Not like today
