Thinking of buying a metal detector and taking up treasure hunting as a pastime. Can anybody recommend a decent make of metal detector (Not extravagant price) that is suitable for detecting precious metals up to 6ft deep?

Had a neighbour who did this for years.
Found a few bits and pieces mainly from the Rob Roy era.
Swords, buckles and etc.
He did enjoy researching his finds though.
