For anyone working in teaching - health and safety is the least of their worries. I am amazed that her school can afford to go on a trip, buy or hire a minibus or have a classroom assistant. Is it an independent school?

£13K per annum? Receptionists in London in the mid 80's were on more than that. How can you live a life on £13K?

It's 13k because most of them are just well-meaning mothers of children at the school - no skills or qualifications (in teaching) and they only work part time.

Obviously with no money whatsoever in the system, some schools depend on well-meaning mums with no teaching qualifications.

shes  not in london slippy, but that what she gets, no tax credits as her son left school, no child allowance, but shes entitled to £ 18 housing benefit, she does a bit extra work on weekends which nets her around 2,000 a year. the school is a  council run school.

no. its full time 30 hours, plus about 10 unpaid at home,   and shes had to go on loads of courses, but yes she hasnt got the qualifications for teaching. But though i say it myself, shes the best {teacher} in the schooland therefore gets used .

Did she tell you what the risk assessment involves? It will highly likely be a checklist that involves her having to tick several boxes. Hardly something to create a drama over.

I live on far less than 13k Slippers .

I also have pretty much what i want when i want it within reason  ....  everyone  can have a fruitful life on 10k  as long as they have  paid off their mortagage /have no rent to pay  .

i cant understand however why people  want to pay inflated prices for things where there is no value or put themselves through the work stress mill

shrewd   christ , a risk assessment on the mini bus, on the beach , and on the playground, even if its only ticking boxes. ps coachnuster she has to pay near £90 a week rent on that 13,000.

What are the risk assessments?

They have to check for knives, cigarettes, alcohol, and the latest scourge of kiddies lives betting slips. That's if the latest news headline is any criterion.

Kids are vulnerable to falling foul of exactly the same pleasures in life as adults.
