4 out of 4 so far today for Frankie Dettori.

2 rides left on the card today, both currently favourites to win. 29 runners in one, 17 in the other.

The next one has been cut from morning price in the 20s to 5/2 oncourse now.

ITV1 covering it 'live'.

Shades of 1996.

Regardless of what happens in the final two races, you can't deny what an asset Dettori has been to racing.  Perhaps the only household name in the whole sport to those outside the regular fanbase.
Few sportsmen in history (in fact I can't think of any) have been performing at the top of their game like he has for 25 years.  The magnificent seven was 23 years ago ffs!!

Jonh McCririck was probably the only household name in the whole sport to those outside the regular fanbase.

Beaten in the dying strides in Race 5.  Was 1.36 in-running.

Thought he'd stolen it there, a long way back to the others and only caught by a 25/1 shot Grin

It's incredible how quickly people and their bots can cancel orders for the in-running horse racing, the 1.36 disappeared in an instant and was replaced by 1000/1

It certainly brought a rather subdued 2019 Royal Ascot to life.

I never had a bet at R.A. today, not even my usual placepot but I enjoyed Frankie riding those 4 winners and coming oh so close in the 5th. It must have been an amazing atmosphere there today.

Dettori remaining his jovial self after the Britannia: "20 years ago I would have won that!

"He was 16/1 this morning, went off favourite and he gave me a great spin. I've had a good day so I'm not going to cry."

449/1 4 timer....Take a bow

I remember the seven winners day at ascot.  Wasn't there some chatter about the other jockeys giving his the last race?

There was indeed such chatter, possibly even a thread on here discussing it, every other conspiracy theory makes its way here Happy

Gary Wiltshire famously lost a million on Dettori's 7 wins at Ascot

He was a greyhound course bookmaker at Sittingbourne, but has retired

May have had some problems with his weight

I hope he is still with us, a very likeable man.

pleased to say gary is still with us,as you say a likeable man
did a million in sold everything he had to pay it off ie flash cars homes holiday homes and all his other assets . gabling  losses then were not recoverable by law then.
a lot would of done a runner but not gal.
he owed corals half a mill went down to head office on the Monday and asked for time to  pay the head honcho at the time said If you say you will pay Gary I will trust you one other firm would not give him time to pay only a fraction of the amount.
Gary Wiltshire on of the good guys
regards
Ronnie.
