My top 5 favourites:

5) The Eagle Has Landed

The little known p0rn he did where he performs felatio on Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore, then accidently does it on a roadie.

Not a fan of M.C. at all, Dressed To Kill and Harry Brown were both OK 'ish' but those two aside I'm not particularly bothered about any of his other films personally.

not the best film, but that taxi scene with angie in dressed to kill has turned me on for last 40 years.angie ExcitedLove

Strangely, I've never actually SEEN the Italian Job. Very memorable in Zulu though. For me probably that.

I have a soft spot for Michael Caine.

I don't fancy him but he is a working-class Londoner like me and there are not many cockney actors still living. I think his best films are where he is basically playing himself.  I think he was perfect in Alfie because he didn't have to act!
Report Angoose June 15, 2019 7:34 PM BST
I recently watched My Generation to kill some time whilst on a flight, well worth checking out, Caine on narration duties.

yeah alfie for me.

caine is supposed to be really nice too, plenty of stories from
his time filming in gateshead, to back that up.
Report SlippyBlue June 15, 2019 7:48 PM BST
Are you from Gateshead donny? I go up there a couple of times a year to see my mates and my Aunt and Uncle and to see Crystal Palace away. One of my mates is rather famous/infamous in that neck of the woods!
Report Johnny_Mustang June 15, 2019 8:45 PM BST
Caine wouldn’t be my favourite actor by any means but he was brilliant alongside Larry Olivier in Sleuth.
Report Johnny_Mustang June 15, 2019 8:54 PM BST
However, Christopher Reeve and Caine worked brilliantly together in Deathtrap which is a deliciously good,  fun thriller with a sensational twist.

Get Carter & his James Bond rip offs is all that spring to mind.  The Italian Job was crap imho, & Alfie, although made for him bored me
he suffered from the BFI trying to posh his accent up; just like they did in Zulu, which lots of critics never let him forget
Report Just Checking June 15, 2019 9:58 PM BST
I didn't even know there was a Jaws 4, can't have been a big hit!

I like Caine find most films he's in are watchable which is more
than you can say for about 90% of actors
Report themightymac June 16, 2019 12:21 AM BST
My favourite was Too Late The Hero.

Others:

Zulu, The Italian Job

And the Harry Palmer films, particularly Funeral In Berlin and The Ipcress File.
Report themightymac June 16, 2019 12:27 AM BST
... and of course Get Carter, Mona Lisa and The Man Who Would Be King. He acted in some good films.

A Hill In Korea was one of the first War films that I ever saw and was Caine`s first big break, but I can`t remember much about it tbh. Coincidence indeed as Caine actually fought in the Korean War - "Not a lot of people know that". Crazy

Reading this thread has reminded me that he was in some very good films.  I suppose reading umpteen reviews where he was in bad films, their opinion, has coloured my view of his acting abilities, but not now thanks to chit chat.  When I get a tv i will endeavour. to see them

Laugh

Do wah, making me laugh as usual.  I didn't know cher sang alfie, I thought it was cilla, but I have looked it up on youtube and you are right.  Although cilla sang it better and as it was a british film it does seem silly to have an american singer in preference to cilla.

Most reviews I have seen and on here don't seem to like her singing, cilla that is, but I have always thought she was underrated as a singer.
Report annie. June 16, 2019 2:20 AM BST
Thanks, tictacman, that is a really good youtube video, he is funny, warm and sexy for an old man.  I know I keep on about being sexy but it is because I know there are a lot of men on here who maybe think that they are past it, but unlike you lot women can find older men sexy - maybe because older men have  been there, done that etc.  Nothing is more sexy than a man who is a man, old or not.
Report Do wah Diddy June 16, 2019 2:21 AM BST
I bought your my world and any one who had a heart I loved her singing them .

The best rendition of any one who had a heart was sung on the carryokee by a girl who worked at Morrisons and her name was mo .I was that impressed I made it my business to go over to her and  let her know that I loved her singing it .

She was the only girl that ive ever heard sing that song on the carryokee and she was easily the best .you notice you never hear anyone attempt that song on the carryokee.its a very hard song to sing .
People look at that song on the carryokee song sheet and say to themselves I'm not singing that song it's too hard to sing .it didn't scare mo .there's a lot more too people who work at Morrisons than some people realise

I was listening to cilla earlier by coincidence.

There used to be a window cleaner who sang and I love you so with lots of emotion .I think it was because his wife left him because he drank too much
He didn't have a good voice but he made it up with emotion
Report annie. June 16, 2019 2:51 AM BST
I remember perry como singing ' and i love you so'.  He also sang 'for the good times' which i love.

I think men should play 'for the good times' when a woman leaves them.  Don't be angry, just remember the good times, who knows she might come back.
