Because of periods like this they have stopped calling it Global Warming and it is now 'Climate change', which of course has always happened.

Me too, the heating is on in my gaff as well. Monday lunchtime I was in Southern Spain and it was blue skies and 27C, got off the train at East Croydon on Tuesday evening and it was like monsoon season. I was wearing shorts and trainers

Lovely weather. If this is climate change then I might do my bit by driving more than I have to. Flights are cheap; anyone who wants to get hot and sweaty can visit Dagoland for a week or two.

It's Anthropogenic Climate Change. They miss out the first bit to dumb it down and justify all and any measures to control people. Oh and to distract us from the real threats..
Rain = CM Sun = CM Snow = CM It's cloudy today = CM |

^^ post of the week I concur

Australia contributes 1.3% of man made global CO2 emissions yet lefties here believe if we pay more for our power bills we will lower the temperature on Earth. It's even more far fetched than believing Moses parted the sea but it's amazing how many people believe it.

My thoughts exactly T_K_D_M, the UK will get poorer while the polluting nations get richer, as we export our manufacturing to them, because it's too dirty for us to handle.
And at the end of the day we won't have changed a thing with regard to reducing world emissions. I do agree with reducing air pollution in towns and cities, but only in the interests of health. |

Yes I love the inter-changeability of Global Warming/Climate Change. It's the classic "Heads I win Tails you lose" logic.

Dr C I don't know about the UK but in Sydney there used to be a smog haze of varying degrees back in the 70s and 80s. Nothing like L.A but not nice. That's gone despite the population almost doubling.
|
|
By:
We used to get thick killer smog in the UK after the war and in the 60s.
All that's gone now. They've clamped down on car exhaust emissions too which is a good thing. Still not nice walking along the roads though with the fumes. |

It's all set to get better with electric cars being introduced.
Some form of compulsion for drivers to change over to electric would be ideal. |
|
By:
If 10 million cars plugged into an overnight charger in oz at the current level of electricty generation the whole country would be in blackout!!
Electric cars - another climate change myth!! |
|
By:
They should be called 'coal fired powered cars' to be accurate.
|
|
By:
I could care less about how much coal they burn as long as they don't burn it near me.
I only care about the air I have to breath walking along the road. |
|
By:
With the demise of the UK coal industry, has Maggie received a posthumous ACM Nobel Prize yet?
![]() |
|
By:
Yes Injera all these lefty planet savers would have loved Maggie back then.
If only they'd known. They'd have been throwing milkshakes over Arthur Scargill. |
