....so, on a quick search it would seem that there are 2.5 times cars to trucks!

i'm, going to speculate that trucks (and to include tractors etc) will still burn more fuel than cars than cars, so what happens next?

No way can trucks run on electric, and you can't convert diesel engines to LPG!

Whatever happens, our most wonderful government will find a way to claw back the revenue that they have lost, because of electric cars!

Consequently they will tax electric usage, so they will be charging people to run their washing machines, and tumble driers etc!

In order to isolate electricity usage for cars, it would probably require an extra meter, for just that.....

....or am I being naive?

the cost of the cars is a great tax hike for a start.

The whole thing is too much in it's infancy, and with certain sectors of society celebrating too soon!

The cars are far too expensive, and unrealistic, and inappropriate for the majority of us, and the greens who are celebrating,
assuming that they have to have a car, won't be too thrilled having to shell out for one!

Yes donny, true that the extra added VAT will generate more revenue but, as things are right now you would be bonkers to buy one
because no point if you are a low mileage user, and useless if you are a high mileage user!

A company rep, for instance, who just about lives on the road won't be able to cope with the too regular charging, and will be
heavily penalised with additional taxes.

The industry, and supporters, waffle on about when we have better batteries etc, but that is just "pie in the sky" and I, for one,
won't be holding my breath!

Tesla who have created, for now, the pinnacle of the industry, are in big trouble, and could well go t!ts up this year!

i think there will be lots of petrol cars sold as the deadline draws closer.

why would you pay twice as much for such a downgrade in equipment
unless forced to? petrol taxes will then ramp up, but it will still be cheaper
to run for 8-10 years after their sale becomes banned.

its quite easy to run a petrol car for that timescale

imagine buying a car that only had a two gallon petrol tank, you just wouldnt!

then if it took 2 hours to fill the tank to just get home!

They make military vehicles (e.g. tanks) that run on petrol OR diesel. Should've done that with cars and there wouldn't be a problem!
I think they use turbines but I'm sure Dyson could come up with something suitable Wink
