1. It would be very nice if someone could invent a small stainless steel teapot (the sort that you might get in a cafe or at breakfast at a B & B) that, actually, fecking worked without spilling all the tea over the table/tablecloth.

It is the velocity of the tea leaving the pot that is the key factor. Try increasing the angle at which you pour, coupled with a swift uptake of the pot when your cup is full.

The quick tilt and quick finish technique has been tried (and failed) on many occasions.

The worst culprits are those where the spout has been welded onto the side of the jug.

Owning a teapot seems like a massive mistake to me.

Waste of time and effort (filling it + cleaning it) and, obviously, money.

I tried popping a teabag in my mouth and pouring boiling water from the kettle but found it rather uncomfortable.

It's a totally superfluous item, just put the bag and water directly into a mug.

Nebs, it's a teapot, allegedly designed to pour tea. As with a kettle, instructions shouldn't really be needed. I'm with Jack and this is the example I always use about design over content.

A bit like the Tetrapak made Rausing family absolute fortunes but a fecking useless product in my experience .More goes on kitchen top than in cup/glass.

I thought PG Tips tea granules were invented for those unable to work out how to use a teapot. Teapots are certainly not a waste of money, they are a sensible long term investment - the Picasso of the future.

shouldn't have to have a degree in science to pour a cup of tea, ffs.

That is because you are buying them from eBay. Buy exactly the same teapot from John Lewis and it will work perfectly.

I make my tea in the mug. I've actually got a couple teapots I inherited in a cupboard, no excuse! So the only tea related dribbling I have is when I visit the toilet later.

Saw a youtube video once of a guy (who covers electrical things) showing some insanely dangerous foreign made "Tea in the mug" boiler.
