Where does it come from?  I know it sounds shallow but if I looked like that I'd find going to the shops hard work, never mind becoming a public figure.  I find it admirable that his peculiar face doesn't hold him back and I'd love to know if his confidence is genuine or if he has learned to wear a thick skin.

The drugs theme on this pm election is getting out of hand.

Rory is now complaining that the quality of drugs in prisons isn’t good enough.

Do prisoners get the vote in this election?

I quite like him, but he's not got a face that excudes authority. This seems a bit shallow if he's a clever guy who might do a good job. Look at Churchill, modern DNA testing has revelead he was technically a ginger but as colours hadn't been invented back then and everyone just saw everything in black and white, he got away with bias against HIM!

Mac Compliance Note: This was a joke ExcitedWink.

I'd say Gove has a marginally more comedic face than Stewart. We know where his self-confidence used to come from, but now that one's a mystery too.

no wonder Bozo is keeping his trap shut; these fools aren't safe to comment on anything. He must be itching to go into 2nd gear but his advisors (brave people) are muzzling him til the morning

kinda getting sick of lib journalists and their love affair with Stewart now

fully agree with that

it's another example of many about why "left" doesn't trust the "centre" to ever have their best interests at heart. many of these have likely been bashing May, the other candidates and their stance on Brexit/no deal and countless other things.

then just fawn over someone like Stewart cause he is supposedly a moderate influence on the rest of them

Speaking ahead of the European election results, he said he would unite the Conservative Party, get a Brexit deal through the Commons, and save the country from Jeremy Corbyn in power. His blueprint – should he become leader – would include:

Saving Britain’s local post offices by keeping government subsidies going and making them more ‘entrepreneurial’;
Abolishing ‘offensive’ hospital parking charges;
Taking on firms such as Amazon in a bid to save the high streets.
Stripping honours from people like Sir Philip Green;
Improving sluggish broadband speeds for rural areas.

you think Boris is going to go all guns blazing at his rivals or am I misreading this post?

would seem to have little upside and lots of downside

no no no; i mean until he makes his play tomorrow. There is an unwritten agreement between them all to behave during the process. Having said that, the only one that would maybe get a free swing would be Bozo; only because they want him so much

David Aaronovitch
@DAaronovitch
It is so obvious that the UK needs a party/alliance in which Rory Stewart, Jo Swinson, Mike Gapes, Luciana Berger, Jess Phillips, Dominic Grieve, old Uncle Keir Starmer and all can make an appeal to the voters. The need for it is yelling at us, desperately.

...

Incredible stuff really

If we learnt anything from CUK1, it's that we need to try again right away.

The problem was obviously that the leadership weren't as good at communicating their message and not that they didnt stand for anything
Report aaronh June 12, 2019 8:09 AM BST
I know some other lefties might disagree but if they think Jess Phillips wants to be in a party with architects of austerity they might want to think again.

Given the media is her fan club, they really should know
