What an utter shambles the Tory party are.
Boris seems to have a perennial issue with waffle and working out a consistent story, while trying to keep away from the parliamentary beak for rule breaking.
Gove admits to being a coke user (I have no problem with that, but the true hypocrisy is that he will be the PM who shapes the rules for the country, if he seems to think breaking them is ok then why would anyone take him seriously?...plus he’s only mentioning it now the focus is on him)
Stewart says he toked on an opium pipe out in Iran
Hunt (now this one is as pathetic as I’ve heard) THINKS he might have taken a sip of a cannabis drink while hiking in Pakistan Laugh god that’s so terrible that one. Like saying he once used 2 beachams flu remedies within a 4 hour period, what a sack.

Firstly, Gove is a remainer and therefore should not be PM.

Secondly, journalists are famed for their drug use and as such are in no place to criticise Gove.  He took it 20 years ago.  He made a mistake.  He'd only be hypocritical in his writing against drug use if he were still using cocaine, but he isn't.
Report 1st time poster June 9, 2019 10:54 AM BST
how do you no ,only an idiot of the highest order would believe gove last snorted 20 years ago, its like olly reed saying he last drank 20 years ago, even though drink was on table 7 days a week 52 weeks a year for the next 20 years in the circles he lived in
Report aaronh June 9, 2019 10:56 AM BST
Gove being a slime ball and almost as much of a backstabber as boris should be just as concerning really.

Are there really many journos criticising these Tories *solely* for their drug use? They are all happy to write off their antics in younger days as a bit of jolly fun, something that less privileged drug users arent getting the benefit of.

Isn't it in some book coming out soon?

It's kind of odd because the people most anti-Tory don't really see the taking of drugs as an explosive story, more the people who are most likely to be sympathetic to Gove/the other MPs.

ffs Gove a hero, get a grip ydc.

If you can`t fathom out why the D-Day troops were given chocolate laced with amphetamine, I won`t even bother to explain.

Public office is no place for law breakers, they should all be kicked out. Churchill was allegedly an alkie, but he held this country together during WWII and drink is legal. That is the difference. Gove is not fit for public office.

People taking drugs are breaking the law, regardless of what they take and whether they say it`s less dangerous than alcohol, blah, blah, blah.

There certainly is a serious conflict of interest having a person in high office who couldn’t bring themselves to live in accordance with the very rules they dish up for others, but there is a potential advantage.

The only realistic outcome of a drug user taking high office would be to review drug law in a more liberal manner, rather than the joke it is at present. Such a person attempting to justify the continuation of such a flawed series of Dickensian laws would get laughed out. There is a large and ever growing set of voices from politicians to scientists who lambast the stringent approach to drug use with regions decriminalising certain drugs with a view of allowing further research to their benefits.
I’m not talking about cocaine, but psilocybin and MDMA (beautiful drugs they are too) that have wonderful properties and healing ability. For far too long this totalitarian regime has dictated to supposedly ‘free’ people (Rousseau-‘man is born free yet spends his life in chains’) just so they can force people other than themselves to be the farmed human that turns the wheel in all the s hitty paid labour that is required to keep productivity going.

‘Turn on, tune in, drop out’.
Report Richie_Burnett June 10, 2019 8:24 AM BST
That worked out well for David Nutt. They haven't got the majority to try anything controversial.
Report dustybin June 10, 2019 9:17 AM BST
What that showed was what we surely all must know; that the game is ****.
If you task somebody you call the 'Drug Tsar' to commission an objective review of all drugs and that outcome returns telling a story that counters to the lie used to condition the population, and subsequently sack him then I think we know where the problem is.

The movement against this doctrine is growing.

The idea that we are all controlled into thinking we must desire more of everything (stuff we dont need and has increasingly short usefulness due to rapid change and inbuilt obsolescence) because it spurs employment and growth is rubbish. People get sacked when robots can take their place and wages are controlled at the point all profit is generated (the conversion of energy, not through investemnt; that simply strips value and raises prices)
The fallacy of the democratic illusion, where not only those holding captial dictate the direction, but also the validity of the information used to coerce the electorate doesnt even get scrutinised.
Terrorism used as a clarion to divide people (when terrorism kills only a fraction of the people ideology does) and create the next generation of snooping on everyone who spend increasing amounts of time online that now gets analysed in data forms to predict and control with greater alacrity.

People need to realise we all have a collective investment in things, things that are available to us all. Greed has been used to create artificial need and turns us all blind to nature. We should all be like hippies Cool

The sad fact is that non of the candidtes to my knowledge have talked about the drug laws ( well Javid at least has said something ). Mainly I suspect because they want the blue rinse to vote for them in a run off. OK I can undertsand that but will they do anything about it when in power? No chance!

They are a class of people who operate above the law. They have created a class of people who now openly operate below the law because of the lack of Police the Tory Party has presided over.

Shame on all of them and may they be visited by a pox upon their house's!
