There's an 18 page thread on this over in the Politics forum.
The important thing is that, as far as the Conservative Party is concerned, "Mrs May remains acting party leader during the leadership election process". |
|
By:
BBC :
Theresa May has officially stepped down as the leader of the Conservative Party, but will remain as prime minister until her successor is chosen. She has handed in her private resignation letter to the backbench 1922 Committee, two weeks after announcing her intention to leave. I think that is an Exit. |

"Caretaker prime minister ".....

Steps down from being Party Leader today
Retains PM role until replacement chosen. |

When will Theresa May officially cease to be leader of the Conservative Party?
One can only assume that as "acting leader" the market remains open until she is no longer leader in any capacity |

Hello Facts.
Well done on the victory in the Peterborough by election. Hello Leops. Andrew Pierce on LBC at 7pm - the last few minutes of Jacob Rees-Mogg at the moment. |
|

I consider Theresa May the acting leader of the Conservative party and prime minister of the UK currently. She will cease to be the former when the Conservative party declare the winner of the leadership contest and the latter when she offers her resignation to the queen.

Hi, EK ... BBC : "Theresa May has officially stepped down as the leader of the Conservative Party"
QED ! |
|
By:
Hi Leops.
I know she has stepped down as leader but she is now the acting leader until a new, full-time leader is appointed. Read the BBC article in its entirety and I draw your attention to the 1922 committee's press release on Laura Kuenssberg's twitter page ![]() |

She's still there until they elect a new "leader" which looks like running through summer

Acting Leader does not mean she is the Leader.

By:
I never said it was
![]() Are you looking forward to the summer? |

a wonderful day in my house; made even better by Farage taking the mic out of her. And now she has to warm her seat for the incoming incumbent. Fancy being replaced by Bozo & with zero legacy to boot. Couldn't happen to a more deserving person

Interesting betting patterns on the Peterborough by election. |

Someone on LBC now cheering for Corbyn - many people think he is now home and hosed as the PM after the next GE.

i will say now, just for all of my followers; that if Corbyn ever became PM i would kiss the nutcase smack on the lips. I can't be any clearer than that
|

By:
You always know the summer is here when they start racing on the July course.
Well done Leops btw. I congratulated Facts but you too must be as pleased. With the split vote, Corbyn looks like he's going to win the next GE by a distance. |
|
By:
Careful, Bap. He may take action against you judging by what happened to the person who egged him.

he doesn't have the cojones or the money to sue me. But he's welcome to try. Just to clarify, my usage of nutcase was not directed at him, but at the outgoing female version of him. I would have called him something far worse

End of July to be expected date for the new leader....let the bickering games start !
