Let's face it , in any other case the detection of cadaver by recognised forensic means would be taken as irrefutable evidence , not to mention traces of DNA , both of which are sufficient to convict rapists and murderers in countless cases .

The whole thing has Stunk from Day 1 , Lets face it we could not have our Luvvie Middle class guilty' of child Neglect ,which they clearly were . Not wanting to go on about the same thing as Millions have , But I think any further Searches should be Funded by the M'canns and their Friends .. There are many retired Detectives who could be employed they cannot come up with any less than the current Mob have .

there was a an ex cop some time ago who said the only way to proceed was to start again from the beginning.  That of course would never do as certain parties wouldn't like it too much

Indeed: The media, notably The Sun - which is basically in business with the McCanns with book deals etc - pressured the government to start a police inquiry that was under strict instructions to look for abductors only. As there is not a shred of evidence that there ever was an abductor the police effectively can only follow suspects that have nothing linking them to the crime. As there is an inexhaustible supply of people with no links to the crime they can go on to infinity with this. Always they are said to be 'closing in' on some random shadowy figure, so the media is hyping that and providing the justification to keep it going because it is on the verge of being solved. The Government dare not shut it down because the media might say they are abandoning Maddie etc. The crucial thing for the police/media is to never settle on one abductor, as if the public dwells too long on any suspect they realize it is laughable that this guy is being considered and then they might start asking questions about the whole abduction theory.

How often do they go Over themselves ??
