Tiananmen Square 30 year anniversary

I read Corbyn is going to a protest today so I assume it's against the oppressors of freedom and communist oppression and murder, and not against the democratic leader of the primary power of the free world, I mean that would just be stupid.

What will be very interesting is that while China itself is still authoritarian and controlling, (as any communists have to be as it's a sickness, a political disease), they have allowed a fair number of tourists and students out of the country now. They won't be subject to the censorship anyone living in China will be subject to and be aware of the anniversary of this. Will they allowed to talk about it when they get home, or made to sign an NDA on return to the country ?

Cnn reporter was doing an interview standing next to the square this morning and an undercover policeman on bike came up to him and shut the interview straight down.Within seconds he was surrounded and told to move on

we were out in tienanmen square about 10 years ago and guided tour never mentioned it,
and kind of stonewalled when we asked about it, but answered just about any questions
in forbidden city and rest of city. he clearly knew what had happened. ...(but probably
scared by what might happen if he was heard talking about it?)

we had a more modern thinking guide in shang hai and she really had a go, but then told
us they loved the government as they had all cleaned up on stock exchange!

she also had a right go at a group of japanese tourists, still hatred from the war..


outwardly though, in china , there were no real things we couldnt do, or at least a feeling
that there was not...but we were just there to look at the place

It was a terrible event

But I think China may have been right to do that. If they had allowed Western style democracy China itself may have broken up with

bad consequences and wars.

Since then most Chinese have benefitted, and although still communist they do a capitalist economic system.

So most Chinese are better off than they have been for a long time.

One would hope they introduce democracy in time, without China breaking up.

Although this is not perfect, because I believe China should let Tibet go, but only Tibet
