1. Sad and disappointed to receive email expelling me from @uklabour - particularly on a day leadership finally seems to be moving to the right place on Brexit, not least thanks to tactical voting by party members, including MPs, councillors and peers who back @peoplesvote_uk .

2. I was not intending to publicise this at this stage, but have had calls from friends in the Party telling me it is now widely known and likely to be leaked. I have been advised by lawyers with expertise in this field I have grounds for appeal against expulsion and shall do so

3. I am and always will be Labour. I voted Lib Dem, without advance publicity, to try to persuade Labour to do right thing for country/party. In light of appeal, I won't be doing media on this. But hard not to point out difference in the way anti-Semitism cases have been handled.

4. Plenty of precedent of members voting for other parties/causes. Some are now senior Party staff. Approach also contrasts with our era when TB was being pressed by whips to withdraw whip for JC and others for persistently voting against @UKLabour in Parliament, and he said No

Alistair Campbell - ace of twisters.

He's good.

Remember this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DnQcO17uYY

Easily turned the tables on Adam Boulton the Sky presenter and hung him out to try.

A master against a child - effortless.

Labour are desperately trying to find out who leaked the news to him. One member said 'I've got a rat in me constituency, what am I gonna do'. Plain

I know several Labour Party members who didn't vote Labour.

Wonder if they are going to have a National purge and expel all who didn't vote for them?

Last week labour were trying to spin their spineless fence sitting position on them being the only party trying to reach out to both brexiteers & remainers.then a lifelong labour member gets expelled after he admits he voted for another party whose policy labour have been eyeing but been afraid to implement for months.whatever your personal views on Campbell,it’s hardly a great example of reaching out to the tens of thousands who did exactly the same thing as him.

As always, there will be more to this than meets the eye.
That said, it is all rather childish, Jeremy really should know better.

I agree with terry.

Couldn't give a monkey's how he votes. He should be expelled by Labour for his deceit, lies and war crimes.

He hasn't broke any party rules. Not against party rules to vote for another party and only admit to it after the polls shut. It's promoting another party that is against party rules.

Its a mistake to have expelled Campbell like it or not he is a big personality and by association with Blair will hot the headlines , the leadership should have ignored that he voted for the lib dems which is not really a big issue , the truth is the party is split over Brexit with many of working class Labour voters who voted to leave, this is the real problem for the party not high profile Blairites

Will Labour retrospectively be kicking out Jeremy Corbyn himself for his shameless 1998 appearance at a Communist Party rally?

How many Labour Party rules did this break?

It shows us though where his true loyalties lie. The Communists have always loved a good purge, and it can't have escaped anyone's attention that Corbyn's Labour are doing their best to purge the Party of anyone who might have a different opinion to that of the Politburo.

Will Comrade Corbyn himself now have to be banished to the Gulag?

Sauce for the goose surely?

No matter how you look at it, it was not a very smart decision.

The Tories going through a leadership battle, splits in their party for all to see.
And Jeremy chooses this moment to get one over on Campbell.

As if there wasn't already enough division in the Labour Party.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Such things won't matter once Corbyn gets into power and after the great revolution we mysteriously start returning 100% votes for the party of the proletariat and the dear leader. Wonder if it'll reported by a shouty little North Korean woman on the telly?
