Aimovig, injected once a month, already available in Scotland.
Helps to prevent chronic migraine by blocking calcitonin.

Aimovig is effective at reducing the number of days patients suffer migraines.
In a study of 667 patients who had migraines 18 days a month on average, those treated with Aimovig had 7 fewer days with migraines per month, compared with 4 fewer days for patients on placebo.
In a second study of 955 patients who had migraines 8 days a month on average, those treated with Aimovig had on average 3 to 4 fewer days with migraines per month compared with around 2 fewer days for patients on placebo.

Those placebos - half as good as the drug.
And that's going on the fiddle figures produced by the drug companies. Lol.
I think I'd prefer taking the placebo.
So all the drugs developed for migraine up till now (and there have been plenty of them) are pretty useless if this one is supposed to be better.
I wonder what the bill is so far?

There was one drug for migraine doctors used to give out freely, that actually caused migraines if it was used for any length of time.
It became part of the complaint. Yes it's surprising how irresponsible many doctors are when it comes to giving out drugs. I wouldn't take any prescription drug without first researching it myself and with a sceptical attitude. Not that I suffer from anything these days. |

All the drug companies have to do, is give the doctors who control NHS policy a well paid job for doing next to nothing, and they have them in their pockets.
No wonder every other approach to treating people outside of drugs is shouted down or ignored. |

Yes donny and the side effects are zero. So you won't be going back to your GP in years to come with a shot liver or kidneys. |
