Racism ? How can it be classed as racism if the GP couldn't see her skin in order to ascertain her ethnicity ?

''Dr Keith Wolverson could be struck off after “politely” asking a Muslim mother to remove the face veil so he could hear her properly as she described her daughter’s suspected tonsillitis.
The family doctor, who was practising at a walk-in centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital, says the woman consented without raising any objection, but that her husband turned up shortly after and made a formal complaint.'' Why does her husband have to make the complaint for her? Why didn't she complain at the time? S |

Turning the tourniquet in pursuit of Muslim dominance.

In future doctors should make their diagnosis based on what they can hear.
They should be made clear to the patients and their family. If the diagnoses is incorrect no problem, doctors make wrong diagnosis everyday. |

....and at the dentist?

If the doctor can't hear what someone is saying, then he should to make a judgement on the other evidence available.
There's no problem, just tell them to take an Asprin three times a day and come back if it gets worse. |

|
|
By:
Well the easy answer is hubby takes the kid in, or are they not allowed to do logic either?

Was he still able to examine down below? mouse
It was her daughters tonsils, if he started examining down below for tonsils, he would definitely have been struck off mouse! ![]() This is grossly unfair, the doctor cannot treat anyone unless he can hear the person. Also she took it off when asked, she did not object Instead of making frivolous charges(which may end this man's career) Her husband should have come in with her, and spoke for her!!!!! |

It is more difficult communicating with someone when we cannot see their face
There are things like their facial expression, our eyes pick this up. Without this it can make listening much harder. I hope common sense prevails here and the GP is Not struck off. |

I waited behind a women in a queue at my Doctors reception once.
The women in front of me was completely covered from head to foot including her face. I thought there could be anyone in there, woman, man or even a Dalek. Then she went upstairs, so that ruled out the Dalek. |

It's the doctor's own fault.
He should know the lie of the land by now and act accordingly. |
|
By:
Ten years training to become a doctor and he falls for that.

For goodness sake, this is the UK, so please abide by the tradition out of courtesy. There is always an alternative eg go private, and choose the health professional.
Does anyone know if practical examinations eg a driving test, schools, medicines, etc are permitted to be conducted with a veil? |

Driving with a veil will seriously compromise peripheral vision though nobody's yet had the balls/career suicide to bring that up. |
|
By:
Fortunately the levels of control doled out by the average muslim male limits driving opportunities for females I believe.

Credit to the husband he was kind enough to send his daughter in with the mother and not take her in himself. This is already a positive step. You should also be proud that he brought his daughter to the doctor in the first place. What a nice man. Sounds like a well integrated gentleman to me.
