Mr Farage had just given a speech at the city's Monument as part of his party's campaign tour, ahead of Thursday's European Parliament elections, when he was attacked by a protester.

The attacker was identified as Paul Crowther, 32, from Newcastle, who said the banana and salted caramel milkshake he used was from burger chain Five Guys, and cost £5.25.

£5.25 for a milkshake, ffs

The attacker was identified as Paul Crowther, 32, from Newcastle, who said the banana and salted caramel milkshake he used was from burger chain Five Guys, and cost £5.25.

Following the incident, he said: "I didn't know he was in town, I thought this is my only chance.

"It's a right of protest against people like him."

"The bile and the racism he spouts out in this country is far more damaging than a bit of milkshake to his front," added Crowther, who is a customer service adviser for Sky, the owner of Sky News, according to his Facebook page.

After his arrest, he said he did not regret his actions, adding: "I was quite looking forward to it [the milkshake], but I think it went on a better purpose."

I wonder if he is punished like the kid with a life sentence for threatening and MP or the kid who threatened Anna Soubry. One thing we know is the media will treat it as a joke and play it down accordingly, luckily Farage is man enough to laugh it off.
Report Injera May 20, 2019 4:22 PM BST
Burger King all shook up too.

BURGER King has been accused of inciting violence against Brexiteers after reminding pro-EU protesters that it is selling milkshakes "all weekend." Posting on Twitter, they said: "Dear people of Scotland.

"We’re selling milkshakes all weekend. Have fun."

The fast good giant tweeted the gag after fierce rival McDonald's were banned from selling ice creams and milkshakes near a Nigel Farage rally in Edinburgh.

A more accurate and impactful outcome for Carl Benjamin, do you happen to know the flavour used on him, clearly not chocolate or strawberry.
Report mouse muldoon May 22, 2019 7:23 PM BST
It appears that the MSM didn't consider him consequential enough to bother investigating the flavour.

Brexit Party pensioner hit with milkshake outside polling station

An elderly man has been hit with a milkshake in a Nigel Farage-style attack outside a polling station. The smartly dressed pensioner, who has been identified as a veteran called Don, said ‘some yob’ covered him in thick pink liquid. Don said: ‘He walked over to me and gave me the finger. ‘He then went to the Co-op, got a milkshake then came down and threw it on me.’

It appears he was targeted for wearing a Brexit Party rosette on his shirt as he was sat outside the North Town Community Base in Aldershot, Hampshire. Farage was doused in milkshake while out campaigning in Newcastle on Monday, and he slammed the attack on Don as ‘yet more disgusting behaviour’

Lucy Blackman came across Don this morning and took some photos of him outside the polling station. She wrote on Facebook: ‘This poor man was covered with milkshake this morning by a disrespectful yob! ‘Whatever you are voting it’s a democracy and we should be able to have a say without acts of violence! ‘This could have been acid or anything! What has this country come to!’ Kerry Graham runs the OneStop convenience store round the corner and said it’s ‘absolutely disgusting’. She told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think it’s disgusting to do that to anybody, never mind an elderly gentleman who is just standing there.

‘I don’t know what his name is but I’ve seen him before. He’s a regular customer. I just think it’s absolutely disgusting.’ Kerry said he is a ‘nice man’, but added: ‘Even if he wasn’t a nice gentleman, it’s still not right.’ Kerry said the milkshake had not been bought at her store but possibly at the Co-op nearby. Rachel, the team leader at the Co-op in North Lane, said they sell milkshakes ‘like hot cakes’. ‘People buy milkshakes all the time, we sell them like hot cakes. They’re one of our most sold products so I can’t say yay or nay to who would have done it.’
