It's the Tories fault for "austerity" and we need more throwing money around for feck all and any lack of basic morality isn't due to the parents, it's due to "cuts". Next.

A tragedy so much lost...a wanton act of sexruction
I am afraid young men can get aggressive and destructive.. I am glad they were detained and they need to be punished |
|
By:
Can't wait to see "The Defence" for this appalling act of vandalism.
|
|
By:
ADHD and the Like will be the cause ...
|
|
By:
The defence is often that these young men have had a bad life themselves...
But that was one has won rather thin...lots of people have bad lives, they do not all engage in wanton acts of destruction on the rest of us So they must be punished If they need help in their lives that is a separate issue, which can be looked into AFTER they have served their punishment for this |

Its hard to care about a society that has thrown them onto the scrapheap though
People are quick to post up rubbish on social media about mental health and the need to listen and help, yet are the first to jump straight on the "lock them up and throw away the key" bandwagon No one cares so why should they? |
|
By:
Complete and utter mindless cretins, it just beggars belief.
|

By:
You make a good point Sontara
Everybody in our society should feel they belong, they are valued, they have a function, they have a job! Unfortunately this ideal state does not always exist. On the other hand some people are just nasty criminals from the day they are born, nothing will change them. So each case must be judged on it's own merits This was a very nasty act of destruction, there has to be some punishment here |
|
By:
After a suitable prison sentence, the vandals should be forced to pay for this despicable act - full insurance value plus man hours in its construction at a reasonable £25 per hour. If it takes them ten years to work it off, so be it.
Never happen in today’s society of course. |
|
By:
I hate to say but well said Just Checking, these Tories just don't care about anyone or anything but themselves
|
|
By:
This is destruction on a scale not seen before
|
|
By:
Well I am not sure if you are sarcastic Terry, but all the Tories push is be more 'competitive'
This cam make society slightly harder for some So it could well be having an effect Labour are always slightly softer, which I prefer myself Still this was a very nasty act, it cannot be put on the Government, the perpetrators have to be brought to justice |

Should be made to do Community Service as railway track maintenance workers.
Make the punishment fit the crime. |
|
By:
The lesson is don't have the show at a school. Not secure and too many mental kids these days.
|
|
By:
Try and get these men to work that debt off though, they don't care if they go to prison
They'll cause more trouble if their even dared to be forced into community service |

Not in the same league I know, but I can relate to this by a happening as a schoolboy.....
In metalwork, I made a very detailed screw driver... Firstly I had to buy the special "Bright Steel" (I think that was the description) The body was shaped, and drilled out, and knurled, and a matching screw, and the body, were threaded, all to fit two spare blades. The blades were beaten and shaped, and then hardened and tempered ... This was made over many weeks, and also many hours on break times... It was displayed on an open evening, and that was the last I saw of it! I have to say that, it was pretty naive of the teachers, to let this happen! |

Mr Davies said club members were "devastated and distraught".
"Can you imagine your life's work wrecked?" he said. "One guy spent 25 years on his work and it's wrecked, it's just horrendous. "We will never have the time to build the sort of layouts again, that's where the anger comes from." Makes ya want to weep.... |

Tie them to the tracks and run a real train over them.

Grown men playing with toy trains? Could be more to this than simple vandalism.

It seems as if the whole world is falling apart at the seams
Thy can say they what they want about the church and I'm not religious, but people were not like the way they are today .when most people lived in fear of God .ok yes we all know about the vices of some of them in charge .but nothing as bad as what's going on today |
|
By:
I think you are right Do wah Diddy
I see one reason..but I am not putting it up Try and get these men to work that debt off though, they don't care if they go to prison They'll cause more trouble if their even dared to be forced into community service that would be nice sontara, although it seems these layouts have taken years to create....still anything is better than nothing |

Look, I know these kids, I’ve worked in the areas we’re talking about – round Lambeth, Lewisham – I know their problems, I know their frustrations – lack of community facilities – I know their parents… and in my opinion, Professor Duff’s suggestion that we should cut off their goolies is the only solution.

If they was from Lambeth then well done to them for finding Stamford on the map.

Rod Stewart a keen model railway fan himself is giving £10,000. For the alleged meanest guy in the world that's big.
|
|
By:
A lot of people won't understand model railways and many will laugh at those who have an interest in it but the fact remains it is these chaps' passion. They don't hurt other people and they don't hurt animals. A lot of them will have started in childhood, led by their fathers, and the continuation of the hobby into adulthood enables them to sustain the connection to their past. The yobs who destroyed the displays won't stop there. Next time it will be something else they damage, maybe even people. I guarantee if they do get punished it will be derisory.

Yes. You shouldn't judge how these men choose to let off steam.

People are quick to post up rubbish on social media about mental health and the need to listen and help, yet are the first to jump straight on the "lock them up and throw away the key" bandwagon No one cares so why should they? This happened in Stamford, the most affluent place in the UK. Can't imagine anyone on the scrapheap there. |

Mac there is a story in todays papers.
A prisoner got early release, was a knife crime. Stabbed someone to death within a few weeks. He had 68 previous convictions. Why are these people allowed to walk the streets. |
