Indeed but the point was that the further series means they do not need to tie things up tonight. They might but equally they could leave things open. Tbh after the second series, writer Jed Mercurio has seemed to be making it up has he goes along, and changing his mind, rather than following some grand, pre-planned arc from the beginning.
Even on its own, this series defies rational analysis. |

In this series, this supposedly big criminal gang masterminded by H actually started the series as small-scale forgers and sex-traffickers: a combination that makes little sense, especially with the added frisson of underage Polish prostitutes. It was Corbett who started the armed hijacks to steal drugs (which they could then not distribute) and guns (as if they did not already have a sizeable arsenal which btw would not be needed for forging passports or trafficking sex slaves). So the gang we have been following does not really fit its billing. |

The woman PC Martina Tranter was working for the OCG (presumably) to kill solicitor Gill Biggeloe (initials GB, hence GBH) to prevent her testifying against the gang and/or other corrupt officers.

Lol. I too dozed off a couple of times and had to rewind.
Gill/GBH was exactly as I'd thought, except that I'd also thought of at least half a dozen other plausible outcomes. And yes, it was left ambiguous as to whether John Corbett was Ted's "wee fella" but we were certainly steered in that direction. |

Yes it was rubbish but in a way, it always has been. Mercurio (the writer) does great set-pieces: the hijacks, interviews and so on, but his plotting is rubbish and it always has been. As early as the second series (the one with Keeley Hawes) Mercurio had to go on television afterwards to explain what was supposed to have happened.
And that is a problem because Line of Duty demands a thinking audience. The trouble is, the more you weigh the evidence, the closer your head gets to exploding. It is even worse now because what was originally a couple of more-or-less standalone series have been retrospectively turned into an all-encompassing arc about H. Still, on the plus side, there are lots of loose ends for the next series. |

I thought the series with Keeley Hawes was brilliant.
Others less good. Some very poor dialogue in this one as if it was thrown together. And generally not believable. |

it was a bit of a disappointing finale. i'd guessed Gill Biggalo was a wrong un a couple of series back,
the morse code thing was just silly and the WPC with the knife a bit ridiculous as there were two armed detectives right outside so she was basically sacrificing herself. I can live with the odd plot hole or slightly unbelievable occurrence but just too many at once there. Having said that it left enough intriguing questions to make me watch series 6. |

The Morse code stuff was just very lazy and complete nonsense. At the end of series three the writing on the screen said Dot's dying declaration had provided crucial evidence against Patrick Fairbank, yet now we are told Dot couldn't speak because he had been shot multiple times in the chest.
