My town is all 100% Labour except my village which for some reason has always stood alone backing the Lib Dems in local gov / parish elections.

I don't get why councillors need to have an allegiance to any party.
They're supposed to look after local things; Rubbish collections, parks, libraries.
Most of them are wannabe politicians.

Sort of like this forum. Silly

This forum you keep posting on Crazy

I had the same choices as the op with green added, their were 3 cons and  3 labs, 2 libs and a green. All so useless if you dont want the norm.

Multiple reports of voters going to the polling stations with their Euro election poll cards instead of the ones for the locals.

2 x Con
2 X Lab
2 x Green
1 x Lib

This worked out nicely as I was able to spell the word...

W
A
N
K
J
O
B

In the available 7 box column…

I was tempted to go with the more obvious choice of ****S but somehow WANKJOB seemed more infantile and s**** inducing particularly when prefaced by the word MASSIVE scrawled underneath the header in nice black pencil.

There should be a prize donated to a local charity for the most innovative and amusing spoilt paper.

as ballot papers are numbered, they could give the prize to the person who filled it in.

no doubt they will look at them, in due course

Elections are being held for 248 English councils, six mayors and all 11 councils in Northern Ireland

There are no local elections in Scotland and Wales

Results for about 108 English councils are expected to be declared before 06:00 on Friday

The remaining 140 are scheduled to come in throughout Friday, mostly between midday and 1800 BST

Hull City Council Leader Stephen Brady tells @andycomfort he expects to see the highest number of spoiled ballot papers the city has ever seen.

He expects a 10% lower turnout than usual & has even seen people rip papers up in the polling station. Worrying times.

We have an independent candidate in Somerset West. As a county councillor he organized people with 4x4s to go around the village making sure everyone was all right when we had all the snow and ice last March. Beyond that he has no policies.

Three Lib Dems on the ballot paper, all promising to fight global warming, to actively change people's behaviour to save the planet and to promote inclusivity, whatever that is.

Three Cons, two promising to implement the pledges in the manifesto, whatever that is; and a scary looking woman who additionally claims a passionate interest in all green issues.

I voted for the independent. All I ask of any politician is that he leaves me alone, unless I ask. Mr Hunt's the only one I've ever come across who does so.

Hartlepool going to be run by a group of independents so will be interesting to see how they arrange themselves.
The problem I see is that if the Labour councillors vote as a party and the independents without a collective approach then Labour policy will prevail.
