Wonderful film, doubt the younsters would enjoy it though, in B/W and no special effects, was in bits at the end here.

A terrific film, but yes it's one that Millennials and Progressives wouldn't be interested in, because it involves a WW2 heroine.

I've just been virtually forced to watch the film that followed it.
Thank feck there was still some racing on.

Marvellous entertainment from and era when decency and good manners were promoted in schools,  and people could speak without feeling any need to lie or swear.

And the sight of Virginia McKenna letting fly with her Tommy gun at the Bosch is straight out of the comic books. 
God how this country has gone to the dogs since New Labour won in 1997.

Certainly had gone to the dogs, that is the trouble with watching these old films on this channel, it reminds us of what a lovely place to live in, that this country used to be.

We once had the finest country in the world to live in, but look at it now.

Cripps is bang on.  I’ve seen my own City become an absolute crap hole in the last twenty years. My local paper often runs articles where you see pics from 20 years ago and wow the change is worst than you remember. I see towns and cities that were barely multicultural 20years ago that are  now only 10years behind my own as I see the scars of inviting the third world.

I was in Ireland only last week and was looked at like I was Adolf Hitler for suggesting to family over there that they are going to regret taking in the refugees and Africans which they are currently taking in, although there is at least still some people fighting against it over there. Unlike here where we have limply given in.

Spot on Stewart. Get the same feeling when watching some of Kenny Manns posts of London in the 60s. Different city, different country.

As one gets older, one tends to look back to the good old days. It`s human nature to do so. Folk in their 20s now, will say the same thing in 30 years time.

.... Great film. Virginia McKenna was a terrific actress. A Town Like Alice was another excellent film and Ring Of Bright Water an enjoyable watch.

I remember reading recently that the daughter of the lady Virginnia McKenna played in the film has sold the George Cross her mother won. Not knocking her.

Violette Szabo's George Cross was bought by Lord Ashcroft, whose extensive collection of VCs and GCs is on display at the Imperial War Museum. Whatever one might think of Ashcroft's politics, this is a good thing.
