A nice read, glad he is doing well. If I could change one sporting event it would be for Jimmy to have a world title he deserves.

Remember when he changed his name to Jimmy Brown to promote HP sauce Grin

Jimmy White, the snooker ace famous for his scrupulous sense of fair play and failed hair transplant, will this weekend become Jimmy Brown. The reason: to highlight the role of HP brown sauce in supporting this year's Masters tournament at Wembley.

He will keep the name for the whole of the event, and possibly the world championship which has seen him take the runner-up title six times but never win. The move follows his delight at the sauce company's decision to become official sponsor of the brown ball - which scores four in snooker's colour sequence - for the whole of the 2005 British season.

Nice link Hank, thank you for that. Jimmy always used to love a bet, I often saw him at Wimbledon dog track back in the day.

Nice article! I always thought that there was something ever so nice about Jimmy, I think it's because he never took his success too seriously and was naturally very humble despite his outrageous talent. Like many, every year I'd want him to win the World Championship but he never quite managed it, despite heartbreaking near misses. I reckon BBC Sports Personalty of the year award would have been a shoo in if he had.
