Probly why it's underrated like that other pinnacle of comedy Citizen Khoont.

I remember being in stitches watching the very first episode of Ted, and then reading later somewhere that it took a while to catch on.

Early Doors is hardly underrated.  Everybody who has ever seen it knows it is fantastic.  Even the stage show they've done in the past year gets rave reviews
Report mouse muldoon April 17, 2019 11:42 PM BST
House Of Fools wasn't rated, with good reason, or that other one with Mr Victor Reeves in. It would seem that sitcom just isn't his thing.
Report Jack Hacksaw April 18, 2019 8:42 AM BST
Early Doors maybe appreciated by the cogniscenti (i.e. all us lot on here!) but I don't feel it got the attention that say The Royal Family or The Office got - maybe because the format wasn't as original.

Maybe, also, because it was an ensemble piece rather than having a 'star'.
Report Johnny_Mustang April 18, 2019 8:47 AM BST
I find myself strangely drawn to the Scottish sit-com Two Doors Down.
Report Angoose April 18, 2019 8:53 AM BST
Where can I find the official ratings?Confused
Report RacingCert April 18, 2019 8:54 AM BST
I usually find Scottish comedy pretty hopeless but Two Doors Down with Arabella Weir was so well done.
Understated and cringey at times and then outrageously funny at times.
Report Jack Hacksaw April 18, 2019 9:32 AM BST
TDD was very enjoyable.  Doon's character was a bit too extreme though.

Report RacingCert April 18, 2019 10:08 AM BST
It seems strange but sometimes I think that straight actors (don’t mean non-homosexual) do better in sit-com’s than do comics.

I like that as well. Christina Applegate LoveLove.
It's no doubt far to non-PC to get a re-run, more's the pity!

I'm glad I'm not the only one J.C.! Al Bundy played by Ed O'Neill was pure comedy genius Laugh And yes, what red blooded male didn't have the hots for Cristina Applegate? Love

Ever Decreasing Circles, wasn't exactly ignored, but it would be in my top four sitcoms of all time  (Alongside Fawlty Towers, The Office, and Father Ted), and given that it isn't generally talked about as being that high, means it's hugely underated.
Report themightymac April 18, 2019 10:47 PM BST
The one with James Bolam was funny. Can`t mind the name of it. I`m H A P P Y was the theme tune.
Report SlippyBlue April 18, 2019 10:49 PM BST
Mac, it was "Only When I Laugh" James Bolam, Rodney Bewes, Richard Wilson were in it.

Out of so many sit coms very few worth a mention. Mainly because in a series, only one or two memorable episodes, but a few were consistently well written.

Not Going Out.
Yes Minister.
The Good Life.
Love Thy Neighbour.
