It's called having a stake in something bigger than us all that we all feel something for. Like democracy used to be Democracy is still like that , democracy hasn't altered . What's altered is how democracy is perceived by those who are given power through it and seek to override it  |

French billionaire François-Henri Pinault donated €100m (£86.4m) towards efforts and was shortly followed by LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault who offered €200m (£173m) to reconstruct the "symbol of France".
French energy company Total will donate €100m (£86.4m), as a further €200m (£173m) was pledged by French luxury and cosmetics group L'Oreal and the Bettencourt Meyers family. Hadn't seen Apple's pledge until now, more like Le Crunch than La Pomme  |
