If we have an England independence referendum than everyones a winner. England get out of the EU, Scotland are rid of England but still part of the UK and so still in the EU, Ireland and Wales can choose who to join with, The EU will be stuffed as they will then have to pay subsidies to Scotland Ireland and Wales instead of drawing from England/UK.

Scots are more than ready for independence. A strong leader in sturgeon, lots of young keen mp's and salmond in the background to lend an experienced hand.

Not sure of your logic here DrA. In 2014 Scotland voted to remain in the UK Union. In the white paper the SNP issued prior to the vote it clearly stated that by voting No to independence we might be taken out of the EU. Knowing that the majority voted NO. In fact only 38% of the electorate voted Yes to independence.

No, it is common sense, both Scotland and Northern Ireland voted overwhelmly to stay in the EU,surely now that looks like changing they both should democratically have a right to stay with the EU even if it means splitting the UK, no argument there.

Nearly 2/3 Scots wanted to stay in the EU, 62% to remain 38% leave Northern Ireland 55.8% wanted to stay in the EU while 44.2 wanted to leave.
They should have a choice as they are very clear majorities what they want to do.

BTW neither would be allowed to stay with the EU. They would have to apply for membership. They would also have to accept both the Euro and the EU dictating fiscal policy because of their financial situations. Hardly independence. Oh yes I nearly forgot the hard border between them and England and Wales.

You seem afraid that they are even allowed to have a free voice and at least the manners of being asked what they want to do.
Nothing was mentioned about Wales. And you think that the above is insurmountable? You seem afraid that they are even allowed to have a free voice and at least the manners of being asked what they want to do.
Another tangent, the bbc website clearly states 38% wanted to leave on their referendum result page, even so,it was a vast majority.
Surely as the goalposts have changed they are entitled to a voice?

Scotland had a free voice and only 38% of the electorate voted for independence. The majority of those who voted voted to remain as part of the UK. And that was despite knowing that a No vote might see us taken out of Europe. We have to be thankful to the SNP for pointing that out.

The goalposts haven't moved as everyone knew what they were voting for in the indyref thank to the SNP. Bet they wish they hadn't included that in the white paper.

The SNP is split over this Salmond case. Will be interesting what comes out in court. Loads of unanswered questions including the seemingly unrecorded meetings with Sturgeon. Might be sensible to have the vote now but May won't allow that and the pols aren't in the SNPs favour.

Aka, please give up that stupid logic you apply - but if you insist we can be consistent and use your metrics
FACTUALLY (your word) and by your way of interpreting the result - only 25% of Scots voted to leave the EU. Correct or not?
Not that it matters in this "partnership of equals" - which has well and truly been exposed for the blatant lie that it was.
akabula 02 Apr 19 23:19 Nearly 2/3 Scots wanted to stay That's factually incorrect. Only 41.7% of Scots voted to stay in the EU.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Aka, please give up that stupid logic you apply
To say 62% of Scots voted to remain in the EU is incorrect. Not got the time tonight but if you still need clarity I'll explain tomorrow night. Don't lose any sleep over it. Your 25% figure is correct. So we have made some progress.

Aka manipulating the figures to suit his argument is pathetic.
Regards the Indy vote he quotes percentage of votes cast.
But with the EU vote the percentage of the electoral roll.

but Wallflower has correctly reversed his logic to make him look a fool.
Not sure how you work that one out Mac as I agreed with WF. Not my fault if you are devoid of common sense.

You don`t see the facts. You seem to think that all SNP voters voted to remain. That is not true. 35% of SNP voters voted LEAVE. And many people who voted NO to the Independence vote, voted REMAIN in the EU referendum. It`s a complicated issue.

If there is an indyref2 it'll be interesting what the SNP will have to say about a hard border with the rest of the UK that the EU will insist upon given how much they've made of the ROI/NI one.
