Rape and murder of a 98-year old woman.  He's still at the acne stage!  Imagine never doing day-to-day things.  Never driving.  Never having sex (with a woman).  Never walking up the street to the shops or making yourself a cuppa.  I'm fascinated by these sentences, especially for younger people.  It makes me appreciate the little things in life more.  I believe his sentence is well deserved, btw.  Worse than a death sentence, in a way.  He could easily do 60 years.  I'm only 33 yet I could die of old age and he'll still be in prison.

What would he get here?  In 2012 a 17-year old stabbed his own mother 94 times.  He got the mandatory life but has a minimum of only 15 years.  He's roughly half way through that.  Doesn't mean he'll be released but the opportunity is there.

i recall talking to an old 'lag' about his life of crime & his sentences. He was a fascinating character who'd spent over 40 years inside for various crimes. He got a sentence called At Her Majesty's pleasure when he was 14. They released him aged 38 & he told me that was the worst sentence in English Law as he had no end date; nothing to set your stall out for etc, as he had no idea when he would even get a chance at parole, as it was in Her Majestys hand; so to speak. It obviously never cured him as he still went back. That made me think of just how many kids might have got that sentence back in the day; & if some are even still serving it

I have never understood why people consider a death sentence to be a greater punishment than life in prison.

True Uble, I was thinking of something a little less crusty and he certainly won't for the next half-century or so.  He might get to discover the alleged male g-spot, though.
