In 1837 52% of the electorate voted in The Whig government of The Viscount Melbourne . There was no 2nd election due to the narrow victory , it was simply a victory . Four years later Sir Robert Peel's Conservatives regained control with less than 52% support , but again no 2nd election was called despite the margin of victory being less than 5% . Democracy worked perfectly well then and yet now almost 200 years later , it would appear that the goalposts are being dug up as we speak with a view to repositioning them in a place yet to be determined .
So what's happened ? Maybe our ancestors were simply more gracious in defeat . |

Tories voted in May to take us out of the EU, but then won't support her in any vote on her deal Dup won't a border down middle of Irish Sea, everybody knows that, so no border down middle of Irish Sea, so that is easy to solve My conclusion, the only solution the house will accept will be a 2nd referendum, where we will vote to remain Waste of time asking us public's opinion on that one.  |
