I remember my mum explaining that during the war they had double summer time (clocks forward 2 hours). She was right, but her explanation that it produced more daylight made us all giggle. She could not be persuaded that it was impossible to create extra daylight and that you just moved it around.

If in doubt, put your clock back an hour, then forward an hour.
Alternatively, put it forward an hour, then back and hour. That counts as well. You've covered all the angles there, and you can sleep soundly in that certain knowledge. |

we had double summertime in late 60s early 70s ?
it was great apart from it being dark in the mornings until nearly 9 am in winter playing cricket, and golf at night in summer though was just great |

Question:
When people set clocks in time travel films/series, do they factor in daylight savings time? I don't think they do. I used to believe it was real but now that little bombshell has popped into my head, I fear it's just another example of media LIES. |

The Sixties bit wasn't "double summer-time" - that was during the war!! What you are referring to is described below. "Then, in 1968, a three-year experiment was conducted with British Standard Time, keeping the clocks fixed throughout the year on GMT+1. However, the dark winter mornings were unpopular, particularly in Scotland. In 1971, MPs voted to return to the system that endures today". |

Set your clock back an hour as advised. Then set your alarm forward by 2 hours . When you wake you will get an extra hour in bed to lie in. Simples |
