I had a great deal of respect for him, seemed one of true moderates in the Islamic community, a voice of reason and common sense. An advocate of the mantra, “ no idea should be above scrutiny”. His collaboration with Sam Harris on the documentary “Islam and the future of tolerance” was a fascinating watch and a real eye opener. Then, earlier this week, this exchange on LBC happened… Triggering occurs at 4.30 onwards…

The caller, a guy called David, reasonably and politely makes the point that naming a child “Adolf Hitler” would be rightly and roundly condemned. Nawaz agreed. He then questions why, given the questionable behaviour of the prophet is naming a child “Muhammad” not subject to the same level of scrutiny.
Nawaz launches into a completely unprofessional, embarrassing, patronizing, ad hominem assault. At one point stooping so low as to make the observation “well at least you’re calling my show and not picking up a knife or a hammer and doing something stupid”.
Literally all the respect I had accrued for the man over the years, wiped in a matter of minutes. An absolute disgrace.
Am I missing something here? Are my observations bigoted?

Naming your child after a paedophile does seem rather odd.
Appears to be Standard Behaviour For some of the Followers Unfortunately a few of the Chaps are also following in the same footsteps of Hitler a Religious Mass murderer 
When a change of tack is adopted and stealth is chosen over violence, it must be very difficult over a number of years not to drop your guard every now and then.

The problem with Ut is anybody can post selective, agenda driven fake news. On the plus side it makes music/videos available for free.
I agree with STUDY that hateful speech is to be found there, that guy reminded me of the insignificant losers who used to get short shrift in my old local. Now they have a platform.
What is dangerous is that in the past it was harder for like minded individuals to 'drum up support, and find 'kindred spirits' now YT has allowed the the law of the homogeneous species (Birds of a Feather flock together) to accelerate and empower these hateful, embittered losers.
I believe in free speech, but not hateful speech.

Wow, that's a loaded question, as an Irish immigrant in 1960 I personally encountered hate speech, but I understood why it occurred, and actually admired 'British' people for defending their rights.
The fact that Irishmen (desperate for work} were prepared to suffer the hardships of firstly building Canals then Railways, and later on Roads was lost on them. As you can imagine building a moving transport system would take you further away from your loved ones, as each mile progressed, British workers understandably shied away from such work.
The answer to your question would take this entire forums posting for a week, so I don't have a witty riposte, which this limited forum solicits.
I will end by saying that I love this county and it's people, it gave me a (family) wife and child and a good living, which I have repaid by declaring my earnings (when self employed) paying my taxes, and keeping within not only the laws of GB, but the spirit of acceptance.

I think that carefully guarded hate speech is possibly more insidious than the overt stuff.
It is done to avoid censure (bannings from forums, etc) and often as an attempt to "spread the word" or even to show solidarity.
It may even be hidden behind loads of words which might purport to say the opposite of what they're really saying.
Some people do it loads.
Hate speech is often done like throwing mud, in the hope some may stick.
The people it sticks to can then be gathered up and then start throwing some of their own.
As I think is attempted on here, except that on here it's just preaching to the converted, no real new meat.
Historically it has happened loads, all over the world.
Hate speech, dressed as free speech, becoming actual hatred, becoming strife, genocide, war.
It's how it starts. Purely because it's a potential way to give power to a few people who would otherwise deserve, or get, none!
The opening post of this thread seemed pretty thinly veiled to me. Someone comparing Mohammed to Hitler would, of course annoy just as it would comparing Jesus to Hitler to a Catholic.

Jesus as far as I know did not get involved with 7 year old Girls or Perhaps you know different ??
He was certainly not a mass Murderer and was in fact murdered for his Beliefs ...

Hey STUDY, I always enjoy our exchanges, hope you are well and winning, what a lot (most) on here don't know is your incredible racing knowledge. I grew up in a 'well known racing family, and appreciate it. 
In Saviles Defence he did raise Millions for Various Charities while he was it , a bit More productive then Writing a book with Strange stories in it >>

Assuming that’s what you meant. That isn’t for one second to condone hateful speech of course, just that ultimately I feel the law is the law, not a comfort blanket.
The problem is who gets to decide?, how low or high do you set the bar? Impossible to weight or grade one persons perceived offence against another. That’s before I even get started on any progressive agenda and bias plod might be predisposed toward.
