Right then, has anybody in the history of 'things bought in shops' successfully managed to open any product which says "Tear here to open" on the packaging? Do manufacturers just stick that on there for a F*****g laugh?

At the weekend I failed on a packet of ham and a packet of bacon, each time left clutching the tiny piece of plastic intended to be the portal to both things pork. And don't even get me started on a packet of Brillo Pads either.

Makes me so bloody cross.

I could do Delta but that still doesn't solve the Brillo Pad problem. Those pans aren't going to just wash themselves.

I did consider scissors but the pair I was looking at also had 'tear here to open' on the packaging.......

I suspect a+e must see plenty of pensioners who resort to attacking packaging with the nearest knife after a futile tussle.

Usually two outcomes when this is attempted (1) failure to open (2) package splits and the entire contents spill everywhere

They should hire the local aspiring rapster to have a go.

Had the same with a pack of Roast beef yesterday..

The thing is that, having butchered the package, you now have to resort to foil, or cling film etc, to prevent it from drying out!

Here's a useful tip, however.....If you have glass shelves in the fridge, simply invert the package and it will be fine!

Packs of bacon work very well with this technique.....Happy

Also watch out for the 'New Easy to Open' label. They are anything but.

Never buy the wine that requires a specialised screw tool to open it.

what about the heat for 2 mins, stir then recover & heat for a further 2 mins one? You recover with 1/50th of original covering after hacking machete like to open the bastard!

jm, i think you need to address the "why isn't my wife more helpful around the house" issue rather than blaming some scandinavian packaging designer

"bl00dy cross" - is just not gonna cut it (pun intended) - if you want to highlight this issue on the internet you need to be incandescent with rage imo.

I remember buying a new twin pack of scissors in a thick plastic vaccum sealed pack and getting home to realise I needed scissors to open the pack.
Thankfully I had a stanley knife to hand that I normally use to cut my fingers in incompetent DIY episodes.

At one time A&E was full of yuppies that had stabbed themselves trying to open an Avacado.

Ten years of austerity and tinned pilchards are the new Avacodo.Shocked

Pilchards are indeed worse than corned beef. Once you start getting angry with it you are doused in stinking fluids.
