They seem to be making a big comeback. I am sitting on a small fortune. Loads all in very good condition.
Can`t beat listening to your favourite music on vinyl with a large glass of expensive Malt and a Cuban cigar.

Most people dumped their record collections when the cd evolved but some shrewdies kept them.

Even the oldest recording from the early part of the 20c even scratchy and crackly will sound better than a modern digital recording

I think the oldest original recordings in my collection are on a Leadbelly compilation, albeit on a CD, not sure they were all released on vinyl.

I have vinyl records from 50s , 60s , 70s , 80s and probably before that can’t remember they’re in boxes in the roof space of my mums house

And therein lies the disadvantage of vinyl; if you have a very large collection you either need a massive house or you bung them all up in the loft somewhere. Same with books. From that POV you can see the advantage of having everything on digital files, but you still get the feeling that the younger generation are missing out in many ways.

i starred in a vhs video when camcorders first came out.
I beleive its still stored my the met police in their evidence room. |

I suppose the irony is in 1000 years time vinyl records will still work well, perhaps virtually as good as new, CDrs, CDs I believe, hard drives, magnetic tapes etc will all have failed. Maybe I should get buried with some of my favourite albums, so when some future Alice Roberts digs me up, then can still get an idea of what fantastic taste I have.

The myth of vinyl being worth fortunes continues at pace
There is some truth in this of course but very little in % terms is worth very much at all, and many of the prices quoted are based on asking prices as opposed to prices realised. The things that are worth money are very specific - demo's, obscures, mint first pressings by initially unsaleable artistes etc etc. |

I had quite a few 60s LPs. Searched them online and not worth the effort of trying to sell.
Gave them to a jumble sale. |

I have over 500 vinyl records that are worthless but playing them and listening to them is something special. Why something that you enjoy has to have value outside your enjoyment is rather strange. |
