I've been comparing the difference in the duration of daylight hours
between where I live now,SE London, and where I was brought up in Central Scotland. The greatest difference,on mid-Winters day was 50 minutes.
Does it follow that the difference on Summer Solstice day will also be 50 minutes, the other way,of course, and if not,why not?

Yes. At the equator you have 12 hours of daylight every day, at the poles you have the midnight sun. The average length of daylight over the course of a year is the same wherever you live.

Yes. It's a sine wave at 3.168 × 10-8 Hz, equinox is when it crosses the X axis, peaks are winter/summer.
