I'm not here to have a dig; this is a genuine theory.

It's undisputed that women's football attracted large crowds before the F.A. banned it.  The general consensus is that it was simply 'popular'.  I was wondering if a large part of the appeal was also the opportunity to see young ladies in shorts running around and getting hot and sweaty.  Bear in mind this was a time when ladies still had dignity and self respect and didn't go out every weekend dressed like toms.  No internet, no Babestation, I don't know about paper publications but I doubt a chap could pop into a shop and buy a top-shelf magazine.  Watching them play football may be as good as it got.

One day maybe a women's team will have a goalkeeper that can actually save a shot, until that happens I cannit take it seriously at all.

In a way, it is comparable to men's football today.  Why oh why do they wear such baggy, long shorts?  They didn't use to.

Men's rugby still wears short tight shorts, why not football - it baffles me.  I would have thought that rugby would be the ones to wear baggy long shorts, not football.

I watch match of the day when I can, as I don't have a tv myself, and with all those men I still struggle to see anyone sexy. Show us a bit of leg please, or is that sexist Laugh

oh dear annie, show us a bit of legLaugh

Well they are not as baggy as they once were.

Then I seem to remember they got very short,

Now they are a tailored length.

But you want them back short again I see Annie

They were baggy when I was at school, and the football was all leather, I headed a long ball out of defence, and I nearly passed

out I remember...those were the days

They also dropped me from the school team after one game, at 10! my football career was overCry

rugby don't wear baggy shorts, shirts because they make it easier to be tackled, grabbed, pulled etc, NEW ZEALAND invented almost complete slip kit like sking, swimming suiuts so opponents hands just slip off in contact

I hope they're being provided with free rags.  I've heard the expense of them can drive a woman into poverty.

They had to start making shorts a lot more "spacious" when more black guys started playing here Wink
Certainly made my life easier as well. Could get far more socks stuffed. WinkWinkDevilBlushTongue Out

Sounds like a case of she said - she said but there's only one side the F.A. would ever fall.
